Why in the hell wasn't Don Coryell enshrined in Canton like 30 freakin years ago?
I would assume it's because of his losing playoff record and zero Superbowl appearances, much less wins. Coaches and quarterbacks are judged by their rings and Coryell has none.

Sure, he has 111 wins, which ain't nothing. But that's only good enough for #41 on the career list, and there's plenty of good (and plenty of mediocre) coaches ahead of him.

Yes, Don Coryell helped develop the modern passing game, but I don't know if that's enough. Given that HoF voters have shut his case down time and time again, I don't think they think so either.

I think the notion that coaches are judged by their rings obviously has merit, but man that is/was a pennywise, pound-foolish approach, and highlights a profound ignorance on the part of the voters. He was essentially the leading forbearer of what would become the west coast offense. In other words, his blueprint was used to win SBs in Washington, San Francisco and St Louis.

He's finally getting his due though (posthumously).

There's validity to both arguments TBH.

Coryell might not have enjoy massive personal success as a coach, but by the "story of the game" standard he should absolutely be in. He was one of the most influential coaches in league history. It's a shame he didn't get in while he was around to enjoy it, but it's good he's getting in at last. JMHO.

Week one opponent
Cowboys’ left tackle Tyron Smith suffered a torn left hamstring during Wednesday’s practice that will keep him out indefinitely and could cost him multiple months of the 2022 season, sources tell @toddarcher and me.

HOF. One of the best left tackles ever IMHO. The Jerry-Without-Jimmy era has mostly been a failure for the Cowboys, but for a period of time they had an All-Time great line with Smith, Frederick, Martin, and La'el Collins.

They spent a 1st on an OT, Tyler Smith, but he's been working as a guard for them. I wonder if they try to kick him back outside.

That was some bullshit. He still had his own helmet on and was swinging someone else's at people? You just don't do that. Total disrespect and disregard for your "coworkers" and their livelihood. Literally criminal behavior.

Who thought it was a good idea to get Cincy and LAR together to practice & scrimmage after they just played in the Super Bowl? Is that a thing?

Cowboys fan mentioned that it is actually an avulsion fracture of his knee and he's probably done for close to the remainder of the season.

Tretter believes he’s being blackballed because he’s president of NFLPA.

Well what about Eric Winston. And Trace Armstrong. And Dominique Foxworth. And all the other players that were on NFL teams while they were NFLPA president? Didn't see any "black balling" then.

Yet, his QB is in the Hall with the same negative criteria.

The NFL player known as "Punt God"(Matt Araiza) has been accused of rape. There was a slight rumor of this a couple months ago, but this is the first time the story actually named him. Might be a reason that he slid past two other punters.

I read through everything that is available. I think he’s screwed. They have him on record on the phone, with police listening, admitting to statutory rape at minimum. Then he switched up his tune and said he didn’t recall anything once he realized the police were on the line.

Oh fuck. I hadn’t read that. Yeah this dude is fucked and this explains why he fell to the 6th. I’m shocked he was actually drafted.

No.

I'd prefer a little more due process before teams make a call like that, but the NFL is a spreadsheet and the 6th Round Punter just became bad math.

I think you could use a hit or two before you go all mother superior on us.

This is sad news and it should be sad no matter how you slice it. League takes another PR hit, the Bills blew a draft pick and are down a punter 24 hours from kickoff, This talented punter pissed his career away when he should have known better, and this girl got used like a Fleshlight and has to live with that trauma.

This sucks and shouldn't have happened.
It was a joke. Did you think I was actually advocating for legalized rape? Or are you going full "That's Not Funny!" on me?
I guess I didn't find it funny. I have daughters in this age group.
