They drafted a punter because Pinion visibly regressed last season. He was just bad.Snake wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:00 pmThere’s a lot of context missing from this. This kid very well may be an upgrade. But those numbers don’t mean terribly much. Pinion averaged 45.2 in 2020. Did they draft 1.5 yards of upgrade if this was last season?Grahamburn wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 1:56 pm Pinion averaged 42.5 yards last year. Camarda 46.6. They just drafted over 4 yards per punt. Not insignificant.

Make the opposing offense sufficiently one dimensional through the shutting down of the run that you can get by with bad DBs because you know what’s coming.
Unless you’re playing the Rams.

Did we just trade in?

When Brady gets put into the Hall of Fame, his top accomplishment is going to be getting a GM an extension who has drafted two kickers and a punter.

If Ryan is playing nickel for us, that's an even bigger reason to draft groom his eventual replacement. That would mean either SMB or Dean got a demotion in their contract years.Cheb wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:15 pmLogan Ryan might playing nickel for us, but that's neither here nor there. We will see how that shakes out.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:12 pm
No one is saying they'd expect a rookie corner to see snaps ahead of our top 3 (Logan Ryan is playing safety now).
But you're not blind. All 3 of our top corners missed time due to injury last season. We had scrubs like Ross Cockrell, Dee Delaney and Rashard Robinson getting meaning snaps and looking like shit doing so.
Depth matters. You obviously know this. I'd rather have young guys with room to grow backing up our starters as opposed to 30 year old+ scrubs who have never been worth a damn.
You're not wrong though.
Edit: Seems Licht agrees.

The Jaguars trade: Pick 157, 235
The Bucs trade: A 2023 4th round pick
This should be a fireable offense.

There’s the CB, nice.
Hopefully we just gave up the two sevenths.
Edit: oof, guess not. We’re all in. Need a hit here.

Those measurements are pretty ridiculous.

Well there's our developmental corner.

They must’ve had a high 4th grade on him.

Not sure how I feel about giving up a 4th next year, but it shows how much they like McCollum. Which I did too. Very good pick.

With a near 40" vert and an 11' broad jump.
His athletic numbers are ridiculous.

Jamel Dean, for comparison.

No kidding. Stick him on the boundary and just let the dude eat.King Bootz wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:49 pmThis is the kind of athlete you throw at your coaching staff to mold.
With those testing numbers, I am super surprised he lasted this long. NFL.com had him projected as a third or fourth rounder. Glad we traded for him.

This is pretty ridiculous.
It would have been much better in round four and not making the trade, though.
