Pete were you proud of yourself when you ran off nobody?

The common theme in both Buczone and IABL is run people off.

Re: Free Agency Frenzy Thread
I wish RoJo well in Kansas City, except when they play us this season. With that said, I’m glad we moved on. He had his moments, but he’s just a bad fit with a 45 year old Tom Brady. He lets Tom get eaten up by blitzers and isnt a reliable check down option which is really important at RB with Brady. If he isn’t busting out big runs then he’s a liability on the field.
I’m not sure how good of a fit he will be in Andy Reid’s offense, but at least if RoJo whiffs on a LB they can be comfortable with a young QB that can scramble out of pressure.

Ronald Jones was a huge liability in the passing game in both catching and blocking. His departure fills a huge hole at backup RB. I'm glad he's gone.

He was a gifted natural runner; undoubtedly moreso than whoever plays that role next year. There was no dropoff in the run game going from Fournette to Rojo. In fact, there's a reasonable argument (one I agree with) that the run game was MORE dangerous with Rojo in than Fournette.Defense5599 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 26, 2022 11:11 pmRonald Jones was a huge liability in the passing game in both catching and blocking. But otherwise? Yeah. No way to sugarcoat it. Horrible hands, worse pass blocking acumen. The definition of a one-dimensional player.

Also an important reminder about reaching for need in the draft. We took him 38th overall in 2018 despite the fact he was nowhere near the best prospect available, because we "needed" a back. Later picks in the same round: Harold Landry, Courtland Sutton, Mike Gesicki, Christian Kirk, Dallas Goedert, Jesse Bates, Donte Jackson, Connor Williams, Brian O'Neill.

Watched him rip off that 98 yarder against Carolina in 2020 again last night.MJW wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 11:34 amHe was a gifted natural runner; undoubtedly moreso than whoever plays that role next year. When he figures out that he's got to haul ass like that every single time he gets the ball he'll have us all wondering what might have been.

You can do this with every missed pick ever though. I didn’t like the pick at the time either (wanted Guice so shows what I know), but you still have to build a roster. Sometimes you have to draft for need. Sometimes it looks brilliant. Look how Wirfs has worked out.MJW wrote: ↑Sun Mar 27, 2022 11:37 am Also an important reminder about reaching for need in the draft. BPA is something fans and draftniks say. GMs and the guys cutting the checks realize it makes a lot of sense to fill roster holes cheaply with draft picks.

Re: Free Agency Frenzy Thread
And earlier in that game, he caught a simple pass from Brady, turned upfield, took one step, and fumbled. And that wasn't the first time he had done that in 2020.
Not to mention the Super Bowl where the Bucs had 3rd and goal at the one, and gave it to him twice and he couldn't punch it in. Fournette would've done so easily. Notice he got his ass benched after that. Licht reached for him, plain and simple.

I guess it's that time of year when we all take a deep breath and admit it....
.... say it with me. You know the words...
The draft is a crap shoot.

Ya I think Wirfs posted that play, only play I can really recall of Hainseys lol but that’s exactly what we’d need opposite Stinnie who’s a mauler. I think having the pillars on the OL at both OT spots and at C, allows us to go cheap at guard. If we use cap/draft picks on a guard I guess it’ll mean Licht isn’t sold on those two, but hopefully they are. Getting a #1 CB has to be priority 1 and I think our only path to that is hitting on one with our first rounder. Hopefully we can bring Lenny back too, and then we can focus on depth along OL, DL, secondary, and perhaps WR (as I’m thinking we lose Godwin after this year).

Hmm... that must be too fresh a meme for your Permian ass.
Re: Free Agency Frenzy Thread
Andy Reid loves RB who can catch, Rojo might be the worst pass catching RB I've seen at the NFL level in a while.
Rojo will likely be used in a very similar way to how the Bucs did, use him on 1st/2nd down, short yardage so that the Clyde Edwards-Helaire can stay fresher throughout the game.
Rojo has talent. But including his shortcomings in the passing game, he's also shown himself to be very emotional. He's gets down on himself way too easy and it affects his play. Which is why BA was always trying to pick him up with positivity.
When things are going good, Rojo is great. But he's never dealt with adversity very well.

Yeah, I'm sure Andy Reid watched the tape. He'll put him in good situations and use him tactically. I doubt he has any illusions about his limitations. I'd go so far as to say that if CEH gets hurt, Rojo probably still wouldn't be the guy. I'm not sure who would be, but they have 12 picks in this draft and I imagine one of them will be used on another pass catching back.Dread wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 2:27 pm Andy Reid loves RB who can catch, Rojo might be the worst pass catching RB I've seen at the NFL level in a while.

I remember this guy. He looked promising for the Jets a couple of years ago. I didn't know he was on our roster. Too bad for him the odds are so long at receiver.
