Bold Takes, '21 Edition
Let's see em. Wild, baseless, accusatory, gut feelings, and left field opinions encouraged.
Browns win their division.
Colts don't.
Seattle misses the dance.
Buffalo takes the Conference.
Mike Evans doesn't continue the streak, sadly.
No rookie RB cracks 1,000 yards rushing.
The Rams implode.
Detroit has a winning record.
Devin White wins DPOY.
Browns win their division.
Colts don't.
Seattle misses the dance.
Buffalo takes the Conference.
Mike Evans doesn't continue the streak, sadly.
No rookie RB cracks 1,000 yards rushing.
The Rams implode.
Detroit has a winning record.
Devin White wins DPOY.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
I agree with most of that... except Evans. With the additional game, and Brady's penchant for throwing long, I think Evans gets his 1000 yards. I'm sure that Brady will keep that streak in mind, as well. I think our leading receiver will be Antonio Brown, though.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
When thinking "bold" takes, one thinks of things that would otherwise be absolutely bonkers if they were to happen. Honestly the only "bold" take here is Detroit having a winning record. They suck, have a new coach and their schedule is brutal. If that happened I'd be shocked.
Otherwise...
Cleveland went 11-5 and made the playoffs without their top WR. They knocked off the division champs in the wild card round. Them winning the division, while difficult, wouldn't be out of the realm of expectations.
Indianapolis didn't even win their division last year. Tennessee got better, Indy did not. Wentz sucks and already has been hurt. Hilton is injured. Nelson just had surgery. No shocker if they don't win the division....Again..
Seattle is a perennial playoff team. But Wilson is getting older and needs more help up front. San Fran should be better. I guess this would surprise me if they missed the playoffs. But again not really.
Buffalo literally played in the AFC Championship game last season. If they take 1 step forward, why would that be shocking?
Evans barely made 1000. It came in the final game as Brady forced passes his way. AB will have a full season here plus we added Gio to help in the passing game. Evans might see a reduction in passes thrown his way and for those reasons it wouldn't be a shock.
Najee Harris will start for Pittsburgh. But with the way Ben looked late last season with these short passes, Harris might see loaded boxes. I don't think any other rook is starting this year. Etienne is out for the year. No shocker if he doesn't hit 1k even in 17 games.
The Rams are willing starting Matt Stafford, with his 72-90 record as a starter. Nuff said.
DW is a rising star. 9.5 sacks in his 2nd season. He's only getting better. He's a DPOY candidate.

BOLD takes....
Baker Mayfield wins league MVP
Derrick Henry rushes for 2k again
Jameis Winston starts all 17 games and throws only 7 INTs
At the trade deadline, LV sends Derrick Carr and 2 1sts to Houston for Deshaun Watson
4 QBs throw for 5k yards.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
I'll go bolder - Christian Kirk has more yards and TDs than any Buc WR
McCaffrey doesn't break 1500 all purpose yards, and doesn't hit double digit scores.
Stafford doesn't crack 4000 yards, but has 35+ TDs.
Josh Allen is MVP.

Mike Evans cracks 1500 yards.
Devin White ends the season with 8 sacks and 5 interceptions.
Falcons make the playoffs as a wild card
Bucs end the regular season 14-3.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
The Buccaneers List:
1) Tom Brady has the highest QB Rating of his career besides the 2007 season. That would mean >112.2. For comparison's sake, he had a 102.2 last year and Aaron Rodgers led the league with a 121.5.
2) Antonio Brown leads the Bucs in catches. I read this one on ESPN and liked it.
3) OJ Howard has 4 or more plays of 40+ yards and leads the league in TE YPC, though I'm not sure he'll catch enough balls to qualify.
4) Fournette, Rojo, and Bernard will all end up within 20 touches of each other for the season.
5) Khalil Davis will win a spot on the gameday roster and end up with 6+ sacks in a reserve role.
6) JPP will miss time at some point, and although OBP won't say it, Joe Tryon will Wally Pipp him and become the de facto starter at his spot.
7) Jordan Whitehead will make the Pro Bowl.
8) Ryan Succop will tumble back to being Ryan Succop and hit <80% of his kicks.
9) Jaelen Darden will have the best season of any Bucs returner since Dante Fucking Wesley murdered Peanut.
10) The Buccaneers will have no regular season games where we score less than 20 or allow more than 30.
The NFL In General List:
1) Jaboo will be NFC Player Of The Month and end up getting benched, in that order. Maybe in consecutive months.
2) Austin Ekeler will go over 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving while catching 100 balls, and nobody will care.
3) The Daniel Jones experiment will be put to death at some point, even though that means Mike Glennon plays.
4) Tyrod Taylor will start 17 games and be good, at least statistically (not sure how to quantify that.)
5) Arthur Smith will get Steve Wilksed after the year.
6) The Panthers, not the Saints, will be the second best team in the South and end up in the playoffs.
7) Najee Harris will account for 400+ touches.
8) Ron Rivera will win COTY and Fitzmagic will make his first Pro Bowl.
9) Derrick Henry's YPC will drop by at least a full yard as all the carries catch up with him.
10) The Browns will regress and miss the playoffs.
11) The 49ers will win the West by at least 2 games. Trey Lance will make a late push for OROY. The Seahawks will finish last, though still in the playoff hunt Week 18.
12) Not necessarily a "this season" longshot, but the Giants (see #3) will end up trading for Aaron Rodgers after the year.
13) Jerry Jeudy (Not Doug, Brooklyn 99 Fans) will lead the league in receiving yards.
14) Larry Fitzgerald will come out of retirement to play for the Vikings.
15) Colin Kaepernick, like Al Bundy, will spend the rest of his life selling shoes after failing to make it as a football player. Not really a longshot, I just liked the joke.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
Wild guesses, eh?
Kansas City has a losing season and misses the playoffs.
Detroit has a season of miracles and wins its division, only to lose, in overtime, in the wild card round.
Our kick return team becomes one of the top five in the league.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
- Brady breaks the single season passing record and wins league MVP.
- AB leads the Bucs in receptions.
- Browns represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
- Chiefs regress and get knocked out of the playoffs in a home wildcard game.
- Rams disappoint and Stafford stays winless in the playoffs.
- Jameis will be benched for at least one game (not injury-related).
- Zach Wilson ends up being the best QB of his class and leads the Jets to a winning record.
Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
He definitely has some bad tendencies. Very deep drops, bailing clean pockets, playing heroball instead of staying in structure.
Led the NFL in dropped interceptions last season (16).
While he's obviously an elite quarterback, he isn't in a tier by himself. Shall I say overrated?
Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
Jacksonville’s first 5 games are winnable game
Maybe 4-1?

Antonio Brown will do something stupid and get suspended.
That statement will either be true or an effective reverse jinx. We shall see.

Did the Chiefs change their name? Wasn't that his rewquirement before he set foot on the field this year? I just remembered saying something like this about this time bomb, so I went looking, and it turns out I under-kicked my coverage.

Re: Bold Takes, '21 Edition
In retrospect, saying "suspended" wasn't all that bold. Saying "quits in the middle of a game, strips half naked, does some jumping jacks in the end zone, then flashes deuces to Jets fans on his way into the tunnel" - now that, THAT would have been bold. Then again, had my mind gone there, I probably would have gone with "completely naked."
