At least that is what my Buddhist friends have told me. From a philosophical point of view, there are actually three versions of Karma. Jainism is the oldest, Buddhism is the second oldest, and Hinduism is the youngest. I know you would not accept my words or experience as fact so I searched the Internet for the explanation that I have been given multiple times when discussing Karma.

Karma means action: your action, your responsibility. It is not some external system of crime and punishment, but an internal cycle generated by you. Accumulation of karma is determined only by your intention and the way you respond to anything and everything that happens to you.
