Ichabod's Monday Analysis: Week 4

Post by IchabodCrane84 »

Much was made about the return of Tom Brady to Foxboro, but nobody made a fuss about the return of Buc Ball. A slug fest of a game dominated by field goals. If you’d have told me that, I’d be perfectly happy with a 7-6 halftime score and four field goals to win the game. It’s not how I wanted the game to go, but we’re 3-1 and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Likes:
1.) I loved the game against Mac Jones. They treated him like Chris Daughtry. Everyone likes him well enough, but when it come down to it, we know we can kick his ass.
2.) “Let’s see if you bastards can do nineteen,” Ryan Succop. (This was supposed to be the actual quote from Back to the Future with Tom Brady, but that’s what happens when you plan a joke for 24 games)
3.) If the 2021 season was like Squid Game, it’d be interesting to see Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones play marbles.
4.) Winfield out there making plays, and Collingsworth is still talking about his daddy. Deuces.
5.) Tryon-Shoyinka sounds like a manufactured hot pepper, but I don’t need Sean Evans to warn me about touching my eyes after handling it. I already know it’s dangerous.

Dislikes:
1.) Much was made about Mac Jones honoring Cam Newton with a Superman audible. No one mentions Antonio Brown honoring him by pulling away from a block like Newton pulled out of diving for a fumble.
2.) Shaq celebrating a sack. Get back in the huddle asshole, you’re trailing in the game.
3.) Here’s an idea, don’t play your best cornerback on special teams!!!!
4.) Welcome back Donovan Smith of old.

Random:
1.) Home field advantage is real. If this game were played in Tampa, rain would’ve ended at the 13-minute mark of the first quarter.
2.) Dear NFL, stop trying to make “stat that” a thing.
3.) Wet cheerleaders! It’s 2021 and there are male cheerleaders, so you can’t say I’m some male chauvinist pig either.
4.) “You’re turning violet, Violet,” me to Ryan Jensen.
5.) Remember the movie Three Kings? Remember how it had some redneck as the fourth lead you knew was going to die because the movie was called Three Kings? That fourth guy was Bill Belichick’s son.

The Bucs are in good shape (waits for laughter to subside). We’re not playing catch up, it’s early in the year, and all other teams in the NFC South lost. Getting healthy is key, and so if finding our mojo again. We should’ve won by twenty points, so there’s plenty to work on. We’re in first place so it’s ours to lose.

The plan backfired when Nick hit the cross bar.

Just a thought.
Well who'd you replace him with of the guys who don't play STs? Not Sherman. Every other DB plays special teams apparently. So would you replace him with a WR who doesn't play ST? Evans, Godwin, or AB?

It's football. It happens. Would it have made you feel better if he got hurt on 1st & 10 on the very next play? Non-contact injuries are pretty hard to avoid.

Very good stuff Ichabod as usual

1 but the refs were horrible, blatant missed calls

2. Davis was on the punt coverage because they were in “safe” coverage . They were expecting a fake punt according to BA

I try very hard not to put ref stuff in the analysis... It's a loose rule, but I am of the mindset that bad calls are part of the game and we have to be good enough to overcome them.

I felt like the Buccaneers were Clint Eastwood at the end of the game.

Not sure about taking a shot for celebrating a sack in a one possession game. That’s seems a pretty common occurrence.

Good stuff as always.

I get that, they did seem really worse than usual .
You know it’s bad when we win and we still complain about the refs 😆

It was also a 4th and short around mid-field for the Pats, which is a potential fake punt. Thus teams will leave some starters on defense out there just in case.

CD3 got hurt jogging down the field, it's football and injuries happen. It's not the coaches fault.

Yeah! Don't be happy you did something good when the score was 7-3 and you're trying to stop them from crossing midfield right before halftime.

Through four games this team has done nothing to warrant celebration. Shaq especially. He got paid and has been invisible.

Cool, he got a sack finally against a rookie QB with a questionable Oline.
If they waited for you to approve of what they're doing they would have been able to celebrate winning the super bowl. GFYS

Ugly win, but I'll take it. Is that the 2nd ever win in Foxboro? I don't remember any wins up there.

Yeah... this is only the fifth time we've played at Foxboro. It's just the way it turned out. We've won twice.

Even weirder is Buffalo. We didn't play a regular-season game in Buffalo until 2009, and then in 2017. We've been there twice and lost both games.
But we hold the edge in the series record 7-4.

When Lugz is the only one on your side there's only one thing left to do.

Double down.

It felt wrong in the moment. Defense hasn't exactly been stellar, but he was acting like it. Still dislike.
