Even if the opportunity of a life time pops up he generally doesn't like to change whatever plan he has. I'm also referring to him wanting to resign Godeke and maybe Otten for next summer. A trade possibly would prevent us signing those free agents next year. So they are using this smoke screen of we don't want to ruin our locker room chemistry.

It would have probably taken the Glazers to go up to him and say go get this guy for him to comply.

I’m listening to the Jerry Jones press conference after the trade.

Many of the things he’s saying, are the right things. I just don’t trust the plan. Ironically, I would trust the Packers to ship out a great player, and draft and develop the new guys.

Kind of strange hearing the Cowboys take this tactic.

I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often in the NFL. It happens all the time in MLB or the NBA.

If you can’t win with a stud player you trade them at their peak value. Buy low. Sell high. Pretty standard stuff.

Dallas wasn’t winning with Micah. Pay him and stay mediocre or try something else? Pretty obvious to me. So weird they’re getting crushed for it. Or not? It’s Jerry and the Cowboys.

I hear you. They could be last in their division. they should be rebuilding for sure. if it was a running back, i wouldn’t hesitate.

I’m not convinced it was the wrong decision. But elite pass rushers are like elite corners. only a few exist at a given time.

The same internal processes led to them hiring Schottenheimer as their head coach. I don’t have faith in the process.

You'll have to pay him too   .

Imagine you had Micah Parsons, you send him for 2 1sts and Kenny Clark. And the bright idea is to trade 1 of those 1sts to a players that's 5 years older, not as good, AND will want a similar contract.

I want Jerry to do it now. He'll really cement the fact that he's gone down the Al Davis path.

That one would take 1 instead of 2 picks then because of his age right?

Licth is banking on Kancy Diaby and Reddick to have fantastic seasons and the truth is we absolutely need that from all 3.

They're getting crushed because they traded an irreplaceable piece. Dak got $60mil/year and you seem to think that's fine. They haven't done shit with him. CeeDee Lamb, $33mil/year. Even Trevon Diggs is getting $20mil/year. Those guys are much more replaceable than Micah and they all got overpaid.

He's banking and hoping they all overachieve. Bucs fans have grown accustomed to "good enough". We're 5 years removed from winning the SB. In the next half decade, the message will be "we just won the SB 10 years ago.

So what's the win condition for both the Packers and Cowboys now that the trade is done and over with?

Does this trade only translate to a W for the Packers work a Super Bowl win?

The Cowboys weren't a contender even with Parsons, so losing him doesn't really factor into their SB chances imo.

For the Cowboys to "win" this trade, do they need to find a generational talent like Parsons with one of the picks they acquired? Or if that Cowboys just gets nice value and solid picks, is that enough to at least make the trade look less catastrophic?

I like how Florio put it. You don't trade the power ball winning ticket (Parsons) to go get more power ball tickets(2 1sts)

Regardless of who ends up winning this trade, Jerry still bungled the whole situation. How process was very poor even if the results end up being good.

I'm not crazy to think that if he really wanted to trade Parsons, that doing so during FA would've created a bidding war, resulting in a larger haul?

Given how "cheaply" the Packers got Parsons for, why didn't teams like the Ravens/Bills/Chiefs or other contenders beat the Packers offer?

For Dallas to come close to winning this trade, Kenny Clark needs to revert back to the player he was 2-3 years ago. Both of those 1st rounds picks have to be superstars. And I wouldn’t say Super Bowl, but Dallas needs to have more playoff success than they’ve had over the past 3 decades.

One thing I noticed in the press conference: Jerry referred to Dak’s contract. Specifically, making him the highest paid quarterback in the NFL.

As if to mean, dak will be now be an elite QB because he’s been given this money.

It was strange.

Huh? DAL won 12 games/season from '21 to '23, with Micah. the problem was that DAL proceeded to crap their pants offensively each year once they got into the playoffs. Dak literally threw away several of those playoff games all by himself by starting slow and turning the ball over multiple times in almost every one of their playoff games over that span.

And this never happens in the NFL. When you win the lottery the way DAL did by drafting Parsons in the first place, teams never trade them in the prime years, certainly never at the beginning of their prime years. The last time anything like this happened was, well, when Reggie White was traded to GB?

And I don't think Parsons' salary is going to be that big of an anchor either.

Just looking at GBs cap sheet -- the only 'risk' this creates for them from a cap standpoint is Jayden Reed and that really doesn't seem like that big of a risk in its own right. They can easily structure an extension with him that has the big money landing in 2028 and by then the cap will be quite a bit higher than it is now.

Will it mean they can't extend someone like Romeo Doubs? Sure. Christian Watson? Who cares? They'll probably have to replace Elgton Jenkings at C but he's 30 years old, they're gonna have to do that soon enough anyway. They'll walk on Josh Jacobs -- RB in his late 20s. Fine.

They'll have to make a choice between Rashan Gary and Devonte Wyatt next year but with Lukas Van Ness developing nicely, they're probably moving on from Gary either way.

I don't think it would impact McKinney at all.

Now maybe in 2028 they'll have some headaches. Love has a big ol' cap number then so you're trying to negotiate an extension at that point without a ton of leverage. But that's 3 years down the road.

If the worst thing you can say about the Parsons trade is that it complicates things for them 4 seasons from now...well that's a fine problem to take on if you're getting a generational pass rusher.

GB fleeced DAL. Jerry should've demanded at least one more pick, even before thinking about wanting that DT, who btw earned a run-stopping rating of 57.1. Meanwhile, Parsons' rating was a 65.

JJ really had some bizarre comments during that PC including the references to Dak.

In general my guess is that the Parsons deal affects neither the Packers or Cowboys in the fashion some believe it will.

I know it would suck for 2025 but maybe Licht could take advantage of old man Jerry and get us one of those 1st rounders for Diaby.

I dont think teams and owners understood the magnitude of free agency in it's infancy or what it was going to become. Eagles then owner Norman Bramen didn't want to spend money, and tried to cut corners with the roster. They still had Cunningham and the defense was still "ok"even with out Reggie.

A year later he ended up selling to Jeff Lurie so I dont think Bramen wanted anything to do with the NFL going forward.

That’s even worse. PHI getting nothing for the best defensive player in the league is practically criminal.

Yeah, it's coming back to me now. Thx for the trip down memory lane, lol. Reggie was the first FA, iirc? No one knew how FA was going to work out.

maybe this is the track Jerry is going to take? maybe next season he sells the team and washes his hands of all of it? I think WAS and PHI fans would cry a river if that happened, lol.

There was player movement that summer but yes, Reggie was the biggest name. They cover it a little more on 30 for 30. Reggie had it narrowed to 3 teams: Packers Redskins and Browns. Browns would have been wild.

I think it depends how passionate Jones kids are in taking over. I don't doubt its in Jerrys will to leave it to his family. I dont see them selling, I think they will try to get this team back to success after Jerry passes.

Micah may not be that "bad" on the spectrum of things but no one in this current locker room is pouting on a medical table. Squad also gives home down discounts because they love playing with each other and want their brothers paid.

Even AB had a short leash and a mercenary contract. Not $120 guaranteed.

Again, not saying Micah isn't with it or good enough. Or an actual problem child. But saying he's not our culture vibe isn't crazy nor insulting.
Micah was willing to take less (he said this out loud) Jerry started with all the bullshit. Licht doesn’t play games like Jerry does: denigrating the player and pushing off negotiations until the price has risen exponentially. I believe Jerry damaged that relationship irreparably.
Oh 100%. This is totally on Jerry. Licht would never have pushed Micah to this point. And again, even "this point" isn't even all that bad. A little sideline pout does not a cancer make. Those attacks are purely justifications. But to be fair pretty much every new record setting contact gets backlash about value from the internet.

Oh, I was kidding about Jerry selling the team. His whole identity is tied to the team; he'll never sell. though he really should. he's a terrible owner that has singlehandedly cost the cowboys any chance of winning a SB any time in the foreseeable future.
