Good luck next round. I’d much rather see you guys succeed than these big payroll clubs.

Rays new stadium update

The Zalupski group said today that it plans to pursue an “aggressive and perhaps audacious” plan which would include a fixed roof stadium as part “world class live/work/play experience” in a complex of over 100 acres which would open in time for the 2029 season. The Battery complex which surrounds Atlanta’s Truist Park was cited as “the gold standard” for what the group has in mind.

This type of project has become more popular for sports franchises in recent years. By having non-sports businesses in a larger interconnected network of commerce including things like office towers, hotels and restaurants, it diversifies the portfolio and lessens the pressure on the team to be successful. Even if the club is performing poorly and there’s a drop in terms of attendance and/or television ratings, the owners could still be making money off the other elements of the complex.

That criteria, Zalupski said, includes 100-plus acres with a balance of a “quality” location. “So it’s not just, this is 500 acres 30 miles outside of Tampa,” he said. “That’s not what we’re looking for. We want a great location and as much land as we can get.”

Two Hillsborough County sites that previously have been discussed that would seem to fit that 100-acre criteria are the Hillsborough College campus on Dale Mabry Highway across from Raymond James Stadium and the Florida State Fairgrounds. Zalupski reportedly already has visited the campus and an Ybor Harbor site that would seem too small.

The Rocky Point Golf Course and old Tampa Greyhound Track site could be other options, as could downtown St. Petersburg with the Tropicana Field site and surrounding land, and perhaps other Pinellas County locations.

I’ve been to the Braves game at the Battery multiple times, and I’ve always had a great time. The stadium itself is great, but what really sets it apart is activities outside of the stadium There are many restaurants and entertainment options to explore, which makes going to a Braves game a enjoyable experience.

The new owners announced that Kevin Cash will remain as the team's manager and that they will not interfere with baseball operations.

I gave him a prop last year or so. Please give it a rest, Snake and USC.

I still believe Babe Ruth is the greatest baseball player of all time. PERIOD!

The Blue Jays still make it to the World Series without help from Ohtani,

If you believe a batting average of .224 in the postseason is impressive, be my guest…. IMO, it’s not impressive.

After last night, his slash stats this postseason are:

.283/.424/.811 = 1.235 OPS

Basically prime Barry Bonds. not including the pitching he contributes either.

You left out the FIVE, yes FIVE walks, too. He was at the plate 9 times last night and got on base all 9 times. That is absolutely insane.

Yamamoto scares me more than Ohtani.
