Anyway, the message coming out of One Buc last off-season was very much character centric. As a philosophy I don’t expect they’ll pursue low character people going forward as long as they’re running the show.

It was an “In the Current” episode where Licht discusses LVD being the person and player they want to draft. I forget the exact words, but there’s a message and a silhouette of LVD.
While very true I think that's more for drafting players and those that will be our core franchise guys.
As long as they aren't actually bad, like beat women bad, I think we are still willing to sign mercenary players to appropriate mercenary contracts like AB.
If Dolphins are stuck with the guaranteed money and we get a 1 year rental at $10M, I think we'd be all over that.
But I don't think Hill will accept that. He wants cornerstone money, love, and respect and a C on his chest which he won't find here.

Jimmy Lake was the Falcons DC and defensive playcaller. He was fired after the season.
Yeah, honestly had no clue. I sorta tuned out the Falcons whenever they became the media darling before the season started.
The Falcons will be the media darling to win the NFCS next season. New DC, draft some defensive help, sign defensive FA,s and they will be tough to beat. Their offense is already good.

Not buying it. I don't think Penix is the franchise quarterback there and Rah is prone to implosions as we just saw. Let them be the media darlings as usual and Baker will just keep baking for us.

And this is why all the draft haters last year were dead wrong.
Idealist hate hedging, hate contingencies, cry "misallocation of resources" and what not.
But now the Falcons can roll right into next year with a groomed Penix instead of being in QB purgatory. That's smart GMing.
It’s challenging to predict the success of a draftee in the NFL. Remember Mel Kiper Jr.? When he first joined ESPN, we all thought he was a genius. But in over the years, it became evident that he’s a hack
They have to move on from Godwin. I’m ready and willing to be wrong, but the major injuries are stacking up, and the dude plays as perhaps the most physical wide receiver in the league.
I was a little wary at the last contract. I’d be running away from anything short of a one year incentive laden deal at this point.

WR then becomes a really early priority on draft night.

The college ranks are pumping out fungible wide receivers every year. Teams are finding them up and down the draft. The cap situation continues to be constrained. Godwin was a luxury, after they had to pay him out. He’s now luxury and a huge risk, if they pay him again.
