Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Some sweet poetry to this. If I remember correctly, Elway did not want him as a prospect because he was too short. But loved everything about him coming out of college, otherwise.

Whelp.... Shit
Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
For the Seahawks sake, I hope they’re getting a great talent in return in addition to picks. Surtain, etc.

Shocking
Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
It has "nothing to do with Rodgers", yeah okay.
Big move. Copy cat league has everyone pushing their chips into the middle. Love it.

Reading that Corall met with Carroll and that’s when talks may have escalated.
How is this a copycat league move?

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
It isn't. Both Brady and Stafford were FA's when they were acquired.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Says trade is pending Wilson's approval. He has full no-trade clause
Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
I think Stafford was actually traded for. The league’s approach regarding trades has changed in the last decade. I don’t see any copycat going on here though. Wilson has made it clear he’s unhappy through leaks to the media. I’m sure they would’ve liked to keep him.
The lions were almost doing Stafford a favor by cutting him loose.

This has to be the biggest QB trade of all time right? I can’t think of another franchise QB traded in his prime.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
By far. This is a huge huge deal. 33 years old, 2 NFC Championships, 1 Superbowl. The fastest QB to win 100 games. This doesn't happen but it did todayPrimeminister wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:14 pm This has to be the biggest QB trade of all time right? I can’t think of another franchise QB traded in his prime.

Doctor’s worldview:
there are no such thing as good draft picks or bad draft picks. It is all luck.
General managers must follow public opinion and should be fired if they don’t draft who draftniks consider consensus picks. Even though “conventional wisdom” is proven to be bullshit every single year in the NFL.
It’s a copycat league. Teams base everything they do on what other teams are doing. This trade only happened because Rodgers.
The Rams were going to score on that last drive anyway. They shouldn’t have even played the game past that point because it was so obvious. Bowles is at no fault.
Coach of the year awards mean something. Despite the fact that the results are apparently all based in luck. Except when they aren’t. See: Rams.
Wow!!

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Not at all. But if this is the same deal that's been in place for two weeks and both sides were in agreement to it... why is it being accepted now?
Unless it wasn't the exact same. They were probably squabbling over something silly like including a 3rd with Wilson instead of a 4th or something. Point is, I doubt it's a coincidence these two major announcements happen within hours of each other.

Lots of wild distortions but based on actual takes. Grade A misrepresentation there. Kudos.Snake wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:27 pm Doctor’s worldview:

Fant appears to be who he is, as a WR in a TE’s body. 60 catches. 600 yards. A few touchdowns. Two nearly identical seasons.

Wilson+Sutton will be a great QB/WR duo for years to come.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Broncos should try to sign Amari Cooper. They have lost a ton of draft capital. Getting a 27 year old WR1 will go a long way to maximizing Wilson.
Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Jeudy + Sutton + Hamler
As is, he will have some good pups to work with. Cooper could make it even better.
I honestly don’t know a ton about their roster situation.

They have more than enough WR talent. Sutton, Juedy, Hamlet are a very good trio.Primeminister wrote: ↑Tue Mar 08, 2022 2:51 pm Broncos should try to sign Amari Cooper. They have lost a ton of draft capital. Getting a 27 year old WR1 will go a long way to maximizing Wilson.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Even when factoring in this trade the Broncos also have about $26mil in cap room.
This trade is an absolute A+ for them.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Good trade for both teams. The Broncos are ascending (a la the Rams and us two years ago) and needed the QB to pull everything together. The Seahawks are declining and are wisely looking to stockpile assets for another run in the future.
As for the price itself, IMHO the Broncos probably got a bit of a value. They gave up two 1sts and two seconds (and they had an extra because of the Miller trade), a quarterback who was probably getting cut, a young tight end who had been a bit of a disappointment, and a 31 year old solid but unspectacular D-Lineman. They still have cap room to address a few of their weaknesses, and they still have a good amount of draft capital too.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Broncos have a good young Oline also.
On defense they have potential with a rusher like Chubb and CB1 in Surtain. But they need more dudes on defense.

Re: Russell Wilson: Bronco
Really was hoping we could get Wilson. What would have been an offer that could beat that? Trask, 2 1sts, 2 2nds obviously would go the other way. What would we have to add? Probably a 3rd 1st. Heavy price.
