Really enjoyed picking 32nd last year, let’s do it again.
Re: 2022 Buccaneers NFL Draft Thread
It's always very hard to talk about the next draft before the current season is over (much less, you know, begins.) In the universe where the salary cap goes up by $100 mil and we can keep everyone we want to, the obvious position to target would be the defensive line.
Unfortunately, there's no chance we don't lose a few guys we'd rather keep next offseason, so that'll likely dictate what we do, as we try to keep the Tom Brady window open one last time. I'm not saying I'd expect us to draft strictly for need, but I definitely think "How much can he help the 2022 team" will be a bigger point than it was with this last class in 2021.

"So let's get to the point
Let's roll another joint
And let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I got to go..."

I'd love to get one of those guys, or Jamison Williams.

I glanced and read Jamison Williams as Jameis Winston, and had to double take.Defense5599 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 1:29 pmI'd love to get one of those guys, or Jamison Williams.

Time to bring this thread back to life. Combine is this week, which is fun to watch, but I enjoy the interviews more so. Free agency will be here in two weeks.
Going to be a lot of action here shortly, once the FA dust settles we should have a better idea of what we should be targeting. However, picking late also means we have to see who falls.
Right now, I’d say CB, DL, OL, WR, RB are the biggest needs. I’d mention QB, but with the way Arians sounded in his interview, I fully expect Gabbert/Trask next year.

Need three D-L in order for any DB to matter.

WR Treylon Burks. Write that name down if Godwin walks. He's big like Evans but he's shifty like Godwin. The reason most folks aren't paying attention to him is because he played at Arkansas which isn't known for producing quality receivers. He probably is a mid to late second round pick.

Sounds like the Bucs will be re-signing Godwin. Would make sense since both sides seemed to want it to happen and it was just about making sure Godwin got a respectable offer.
We need interior Olinemen and Dline (to include EDGE) early and often. Maybe a CB also.
Hopefully we re-sign Gholston so the starting front 7 is back (Nacho in for Suh). But we'd still need depth.

A draft this size Licht needs to be going after priority free agents. We need to go all out convincing players we will actively coach them up.Dread wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 10:26 am Sounds like the Bucs will be re-signing Godwin. Or draft six and hope one makes it past five years
Re: 2022 Buccaneers NFL Draft Thread
Don't we go after priority FAs every year as soon as day 3 of the draft is completed? I thought that was a standard practice.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 03, 2022 12:16 pmA draft this size Licht needs to be going after priority free agents. Re: 2022 Buccaneers NFL Draft Thread
Is there a reference or metric you're basing that on that you could share?
Re: 2022 Buccaneers NFL Draft Thread
Can you think of a bigger name than Brate in say the last 22 years? We went with him from the beginning but I'm not sure he was a priority free agent. So when I say coaching them up this is what I mean, do it with the intent of them seeing the field and producing.
