Bootzie - Any predictions on how your boy Cam will do this season?
Not that any failure would be his fault, amirite?
I'm not expecting much. That is a bad Panthers roster. Cam isn't the guy he was 5-6 years ago. Like you said, he's a bridge to get them through the season while Darnold is hurt.

I guess he's a better option that PJ Walker. Plus it will put fans in the stands.
Is Darnold out for the season?
It would be awkward if Darnold is able to return and Cam somehow gets them on a win streak given Darnold's salary in 2022 is fully guaranteed at $18.8M

6 weeks puts his return at the end of December. Maybe the Panthers are fooling themselves into thinking they can stay competitive for a playoff spot. But for all intents and purposes he's out for the rest of the meaningful season.
I don't think that's a worry of theirs, but the fact that they gave Cam a significant contract speaks some volumes.

Yeah, I don't think the Panthers sign Cam if there is any hope (however remote) that Darnold will play this season.
It still makes for a potentially interesting offseason. Maybe the Panthers have decided that they are cutting bait w/ Darnold and just eating that $18M.
It will be an interesting story to keep tabs on.
As for this season. Cam isn't good and neither is that offense. Their Oline is terrible so Cam will be running for his life since he's never been a QB who gets the ball out quick.

I think they eat the $18 mil. Darnold showed he is who he is. They haven’t won any game because of him. When he’s good, he’s okay. When he’s bad, he’s the worst QB in football. And he’s been more bad than good this season.
He’s still very young, but when you compare him to his peers, he is far behind the curve. There is more than enough data to say he’s a bad QB.

At this point, I'd tend to agree. I didn't consider the Jets a fair shake for him (still don't.) But he landed in a pretty good situation in Carolina, minus CMC's injury. Good targets, a QB friendly offense, and a defense that rarely asks him to win shootouts. And he just doesn't have it. Too inaccurate. Too many "huh?" moments. At least one brainfart a game that would make Jameis proud. Plus runner, capable of the occasional good game, but you're never going to be able to count on him. He seems destined to be the next Blake Bortles, travelling the league as a one-year backup on the strength of his draft position and arm strength.
I was ready to agree with you and say they're going to eat the money and start fresh, but here's the thing: if they fail to acquire Deshaun Watson, I'm not sure there's a better option out there for them than Darnold in his 2nd year in the offense. The projected free agents are a wasteland. They'll have a shot at guys like Jimmy Garappolo, but not sure there will be any that are clear upgrades, especially when they're going to have Darnold counting $18 mil against the cap either way.
"So let's get to the point
Let's roll another joint
And let's head on down the road
There's somewhere I got to go..."
How much of a donation to your favorite charity to make this name change happen?
LOL how about a bet instead and i'll rock it until the end of the season
How's this: We clean sweep your sorry excuse for a franchise, you make a 20 dollar donation to the charity of my choice. We split or lose the series, I do the same.

Savvy?
Agreed and out of fun i'll still do the SamSam IF we get swept
Edit: If an admin would do so and change it back for me after awhile. I refuse to keep that shit LOL

Looks like the Panthers have seen enough from Darnold.
He's on IR with a right scapular fracture.
I'm no doctor but that's a hard bone to break. Given that it's one of the main structures that make up his throwing shoulder, I'd be surprised if Darnold comes back this season with any degree of juice to his game.
And it ain't like Darnold was juicy prior to this. Only one game in the last five has he thrown for more than 200 yards, and that was 207 yards in the overtime loss against the Vikings.

I watched Cam on the Red Zone, and he didn't look bad in the plays I saw. He FINALLY learned sliding is a QB's best friend when scrambling.
5-21 for 92yds and 2 picks.
64yds came on 1 play to DJ Moore on a blown coverage.
So 4 completions on the other 20 attempts for 28yds before getting benched.
