The trainer was rubbing on his neck while he was trying to bend it. He has 2 weeks at least.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Best game of the playoffs so far.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Guy actually had an average game throwing the ball. His biggest play was a dropped INT that ended up in Aiyuk’s hands. Ironically, his legs won the game. Three huge runs from a guy not known so much for that.

I’m seeing 49ers -3, online
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Damn I love to bet but this is a game where I’ll be looking at props. The SB hard to predict this year. SF is better on paper but KC has edge at two biggest positions—QB and Head Coach.

Lions imploded.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I’m done underestimating KC. Reid, Mahomes, the defense, and the refs.
Hard to see them losing at this point. I won’t touch it with $ tho

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
He was really good to open the game with many tough throws. Went into a funk once the Lions D-line started to dominate and came back strong and clutch. Aiyuk deserves credit for that fluky play no doubt, but there were many other big plays made during the game excluding his scrambles. This is playoff football, I would not expect QBs to be throwing dimes all game.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Lions have the best offensive roster in the NFL and I don't think it is close. Packers right behind them. 9ers have many big names, but their offensive line is Tier 2 and so is their QB.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Lions QB is tier 2 as well. Packers are second best? Any actual data to back this stuff up? 49ers averaged more yards. They had the number 1 RB. They averaged more ppg and more yards per game. The Packers averaged 22.5 ppg. Your comment is all emotion and is based in little fact.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I guess you are a 9er fan hurt from my comment. My comment is what I think things will be in future. Goff almost managed to take a second team to a Superbowl by playing brilliant. Outside of Mahomes, he's as accomplished as any of the so called great ones. He's been integral in the revival of Lions as much as their coaching staff and it's time we credit Goff for what he is. A pretty consistently good QB.Onthebrink wrote: ↑Sun Jan 28, 2024 11:35 pmLions QB is tier 2 as well. Packers are second best? Any actual data to back this stuff up? 49ers averaged more yards. The Packers have managed to have a top 10 O-line despite their star LT hurt the whole year. They also possibly have one of the best RBs in the league and a QB clearly ascending. Combine that with a very young and deep core of talented WRs and a scheme that is as good as it gets. The 9ers and the Cowboys defenses looked pretty average against their offense and nothing felt fluky about it.

The loss is on Dan Campbell. In order to win the championship, take the points. Always

I saw parts of both games yesterday while out and about with my daughters. It’s been fun reading thru this thread knowing the eventual outcome of the games. Especially the Lions/Niners game.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I don't blame him for going for it. That has been their identity all season long.
They lost because of a couple fluke plays, untimely drops, and a fumble. Not because Campbell went for it on 4th down a couple times.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
It does not matter, the loss is still on Dan Campbell.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Exactly. They got here being this way. And the playcalls were money. They were just dropped.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 9:49 amI don't blame him for going for it. That has been their identity all season long.

At that point you can't be mad at Dan for that anymore than you could if he called for a FG and the kicker missed the kick. That's player execution. And if you're going to lose, lose betting on your players.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I don't think the refs can be blamed yesterday at all. They called 2 BS holds on the Chiefs in a row negating a TD, missed Jones being tripped which would have been a safety, and missed defensive holding on the Chiefs which would have been a big play for the Ravens. Other than those, the it was clean. I see Ravens upset about the facemask penalty on Mahomes and the 2 personal foul penalties on Van Noy and Smith, but all of those were obvious.
4 pretty egregious bad calls/no calls, 3 were in the Ravens favor and 1 in the Chiefs. I think over the course of a game that's pretty standard.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Lamar Jackson in the Playoffs in his career:
Team has a 2-4 record
Lamar is 112 of 195 passing (57.4% completions) 6TD/6INT with a total of 1324 yards.
So, Lamar's average playoff game passing consists of:
19 of 33 passing for 221 yards, 1TD/1INT...yikes, he reallllly shrinks when it matters most.

People still wanna pretend it's not close?
Mahomes also has 2 league MVP awards, 2 1st Team All-Pro selections, an OPOY award and 6 Pro Bowls.
At the same point, Brady had no MVPs, no 1st team all pro selections, no OPOY award and 3 Pro Bowls.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
For this point in their respective careers, it's neck and neck.
Mahomes could have retired after last year and been a first ballot HOFer.
Is there any player other than him and Brady you could say that about after just six seasons?

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I don't believe it's disputable that Mahomes is better at this point in both of their careers. Brady was a game manager in his 1st 3 Super Bowls and grew into the dominant force. Mahomes started day 1 with elite stats. Mahomes is the more talented QB, but Brady did it for so long. It's fair to say Mahomes is the more rare talent, has a better start, but you can still question if he makes it to Brady's level. I don't think he needs 7 to be considered greater, but he needs more.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
I'd say Mahomes has already passed Manning, Brees, Rodgers, etc. I think there's a debate about Montana and if he wins the SB, I'd move him past Montana, despite having 1 less SB win.

It’s a lazy argument to make because it fails to account for the simple reality that today’s NFL is far more pass-happy than two decades ago.uscbucsfan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 11:09 amI don't believe it's disputable that Mahomes is better at this point in both of their careers. Mahomes is ridiculously good. So was Brady. Mahomes still has a crap-ton of work to do reach GOAT status, as Brady has more SB rings than all the teams in the NFL.

I said Mahomes needs more SB wins and wins in general, but comparing his first 6 years to Brady's is absolutely fair and so far Mahomes has a better start.
Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Absolutely Mahomes has a better start. I see it similar to Jerry Rice, Moss. When Moss came out he was the the prized child to catch Rice. And pound for pound what more athletically gifted too. But there's so much more to this game. Rice work ethic was matched only by Brady. Which is why they are where they are.
Mahomes is the Jordan of the NFL. The guy is on a cloud above the rest. But the NFL is much harder. This is going to be a big game for Mahomes. It's not crazy to say that Chiefs lose this and with Kelce retired never actually return to the SB. It could totally happen. Plenty of HoFers thought they'd be back too.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
The NFL was the same back then, right?
In 2001, Kurt Warner won MVP with 36 TDs and 22 INTs.
In 2002, Gannon won MVP by throwing for 26 TDs and 10INTs.
In 2003, Peyton won MVP by throwing for 29 TDs and 10 INTS.
If you're going purely by stats, sure, Mahomes blows him out of the water, but it was an entirely different league 20 years ago.

Re: Championship Sunday Discussion
Well said, especially with the Moss comparison. He was also a better talent than Rice at receiver, but consistency of greatness over a long period of time is almost impossible, which is why Brady and Rice stand out so much from their peers historically. Mahomes could get injured tomorrow and never play again. You never know.Doctor wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 11:42 am Absolutely Mahomes has a better start. I see it similar to Jerry Rice, Moss. Mahomes locked in his place in Canton last year and is now just building up all-time accolades, but there's a ton to catch Brady, even if he doesn't need 7 or 8 to do it.
