Kancey at least has had a good game.

Offense sucks ass, but the defense can’t blame them when they keep themselves on the field. Lions 9/15 on 3rd down, many third and long. We sucked on both sides of the ball and if the Lions didn’t have so many injuries, this score would be way worse.wesmon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:02 pmThey can only stay on the field so long. I think our defense showed up big time, and our offense threw them to the wolves.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:00 pm Defense is getting dog walked this second half. Sure, they are tired because of offense yadda yadda, it’s an excuse. Just not good enough on either side today.

The defense did not show up. The Lions 3rd down percentage is too high to say that.wesmon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:02 pmThey can only stay on the field so long. Our punter was the only one in orange that showed up.

Walker is getting a fine for that one.

Baker throwing hospital passes at the end of a tough loss.

Our defense held the number six offense in the league to 17 points. They are not the problem.

LVD had an absolutely exceptional game in all phases.
Kancey made several plays.
Godwin on offense.
Trey Palmer ran several great routes and dominated but was missed.
Camarda.
But this was about coordinating generally, key situations specifically, tone/details by players in same key situations, and one team had elite QBing while the other...did not.

The two good teams we played, we get dominated. Hey we’re in first place… but it’s not fun being the tallest midget.

Didn’t say they were THE problem. But they don’t deserve a pat on the back for their performance. They played a great first half, but atrociously in the second. Again, can’t blame the offense not staying on the field when you can’t get off it.wesmon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:10 pmMiller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:05 pm

Why do we keep throwing to Evans? He apparently isn't interested in catching the ball today. Pains me to say that.

The Lions 3rd down conversion rate says that they are part of the problem today. Sorry, this was a team loss.wesmon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:10 pmMiller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:05 pm

The better team won.
Good game Lions.

The best thing about this game... it is over. Time for Bowles to prove he should get another year or lose the team and his job next week.

With the losses by Atlanta, New Orleans and Carolina, the Bucs are still in first place in the NFCS.

Baker overthrew Evans once and Trey twice on what should have been TD's.
Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
Our offense is horrible, but it absolutely is on the defense as well. Detroit was one dimensional thanks an injury to their star RB and to his backup and yet the defense kept giving up easy completions on many critical downs.

Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
If our offense scored more, Lions would have played more aggressive and would have succeeded. Outside of good play from our interior D-line and LVD, Lions had their way against our defense. It felt like the score should have been 30-6.
Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
More aggressive? They passed 67% of their offensive plays.
Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
One thing that smart coaches know is to get Ryan Neal one on one and target him all game long.
Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
They had no run game to speak of today. The defense was very good overall. The fact that we don't have a pass rush was exposed though.

Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
It stinks feeling that the DL needs an overhaul when the FO has already been overhauling it for years. Three straight years with our top pick going to the defensive front and it feels like it needs a rebuild outside of Vea and Kancey. JTS has just never been it, Hall hasn’t stepped up and now as much as it pains me to say for multiple reasons, Shaq Barrett is just straight up washed an ineffective.
Re: Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official Game Day Thread: Creamsicle Edition
The bottom line is Detroit converted on most of their 3rd downs and Tampa did not. That was the difference in the game. Whether it's coaching or play is a question that needs to be answered soon.
