On the touchback.
Interesting discussion. It could have been considered a touchback too. Still not sure what the actual rule is. Having an issue finding it in the NFL rules.

One more discussion of the rule.
https://www.footballzebras.com/2022/02/ ... tion-rule/
" Under this new rule exception, if an interception was made at or inside the defense’s 5-yard line, and the defender’s intercepting momentum carried him into the end zone, the ball would be awarded to the defense at the spot of the interception."
Looks like Blandino was wrong. The officials on the field were correct.

Blandino explained the rule. Had the receiver pulled the intercepting defender backwards into the endzone, the play ends where forward progress stops, which would've been the 1. But Godwin didn't pull the defender backwards, the players momentum did. In that case it should have been a touchback. It's no different than if a RB carries to the 30, changes his own direction and goes backwards to the 28 and gets tackled there. Ball placed at the 30. But if the RB carries to the 30 and a defender pulled him backwards to the 28, forward progress is stopped at the 30.

Good play design on the quick screen. Terrible blocking and execution.

Ugh... was hoping we would add another score to the lead.

I thought that would have been a personal foul on the sack. He slammed Baker into the turf.

Read the posts I made on the subject. From those, it does not look like it matters if the intercepting player was pulled back or his momentum carried him into the endzone. From those posts Blandino was confused.Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 2:39 pm Blandino explained the rule. NY didnt call it.

The opinions you posted contradict each other. The 2nd one says "where possession was established and the foot 1st comes down". In that instance it would have been the endzone. You might want to read what you post again.13F11B wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 2:49 pmRead the posts I made on the subject. I've liked Dave's play calling overall but man we gotta tune down the 1 yard runs up the gut.
