Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
We can do better
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Do not want. We have a second round pick who is quite literally the cheapest option and we do not now if he's Tom Brady or Uncle Rico. Give Trask the ball in 2023 and see how it goes.
What are we achieving with Wentz as our starter that Trask may not be able to offer for less than 10% of the (I'm guessing) cost?

He was on the team last year? Fooled me.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Guess we don't get to trade Brate after all.
He aught to retire. He's had a great career.

32 year old TE with concussion issues and limited talent don't have trade value.

I’ll miss that overgrown #3 WR.
RIP
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I never suggested that he be traded.
Your assessment of Brate's career has too much salt in it.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I never made an assessment of his career.

It's an observation. He had concussion issues last seasons. Had to be taken off on a stretcher in Pittsburgh. You disagree with a fact? Be my guest.
He's an undrafted Ivy League player. We've had him for 9 years and used a 1st round pick and traded for one of the greatest TEs in football while he was here. Brate had a good career but God given talent wise he's limited. We've also made him take a pay cut for 3 straight seasons to stay here. Again, you disagree? Be my guest.

He's also one touchdown away from tying Jimmy Giles for second most TD catches in franchise history.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:02 pmIt's an observation. He had concussion issues last seasons. Had to be taken off on a stretcher in Pittsburgh. You disagree with a fact? Be my guest.

He played 126 games as a Buc. He's not just some fuckin guy.

That number you're puffing your chest about is 34. Brate has 33 TDs in 9 years, average of less than 4/year.
He played here a long time. Credit to him. But he's not a HOFer. Not a top 20 TE. Probably not even top 50 TE all time. He made money, won a ring. But he's easily replaceable.
You think he's more? That's your opinion.

He's a good player who played good football here for a long time and while that may mean nothing to you, it's at the very least worth a moment of reflection and appreciation from those of us who aren't 49ers fans.

Boy talk about projecting and assuming. Get out of your feelings. I didn't say anything of the such. I said he had concussion issues(he did) and was limited in the talent depth (he is) and you turned it into something else. Grow up. Move on. The Bucs have.

Where was the leap to a HOFer/top 20 guy made? You really make some incredible jumps in your responses.Bootz wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 2:19 pmTalk about a war of attrition.

Brate was a useful part and for quite a while. You want to diminish that for some unclear reason go ahead. It's what you do.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
That leap was the same place as you saying I tried to disminish what Brate accomplished here. Didn’t happen. But by all means, make shit up along with MB.Four Verticals wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 4:15 pmWhere was the leap to a HOFer/top 20 guy made? Just when we think Bootz cannot get any more insufferable, he goes and tops himself…again.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I would totally drink a few beers with @Bootz. I think it would be a blast so long as he really doesn’t take himself too seriously. lol
Don't tread on me
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
Brate did very well for us during his run. Nothing but praise, respect, and gratitude.

If Licht brings Wentz here he deserves to be fired on the spot.

Which QB's that could even possibly be on the move haven't had a story written that they were coming to Tampa?BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:57 pm If Licht brings Wentz here he deserves to be fired on the spot.
I haven't read so much wild conjecture since, well never.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I mean Wentz is about what you'd ask for in a second string vet competition. Still think lock is a lock.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
We ought to be able to raid practice squads for QB's this year.
Re: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Official 2023 Off Season Thread
I have no problem bringing Wentz here if he's cheap enough. Some of y'all are still pretending we might good. Wentz, Dalton, Flacco, Lock - who gives a shit? We're going to bring in a veteran to push Trask. That's a given. Somebody will win the competition. Odds are extremely high both will see snaps over the course of a 17 game season. Then at the end of the year, the veteran almost certainly leaves and Trask either a) builds on this year or b) returns to the shadows.
