Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
Good news for LVD
With the long break after TNF he may only end up missing one game. Got lucky.

Ok, Mr. stat guy...mdb1958 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:28 pmUmm, Mike having to fall all over himself on a comeback still shows a disconnect between the two.Moozician wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:16 pm I don't think Brady worries about just HIS stats... He wants Evans to get another 1000 yard season, he wants to make sure AB continues his own legacy, stuff like that. While the main goal is another super bowl, I'm sure that sweeping the division and the division championship are on his mind as well.
And face it... Brady throwing long to THESE guys turns into a high-percentage completion pass rate.
How many yards did Evens get yesterday? (113)
What's his total for the year? (393) Average is 78 yards per game
So... 78 yards times 17 games is? 1326.
How many TDs does Evans have? 4 in 5 games. So he's on pace for 13 this year, correct?
So.... What "problem"?
And the "comeback" on that reception makes him WIDE open. That's by design, I'm sure.
There's no disconnect.

Mike Evans falling down for/after a catch his hardly a new development.mdb1958 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:28 pmUmm, Mike having to fall all over himself on a comeback still shows a disconnect between the two.Moozician wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:16 pm I don't think Brady worries about just HIS stats... The quantity of rushing attempts against us is way down.
Most TFLs come on running plays

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
Just checked
first five last year
34
24

He is absolutely trying to pad his stats.Moozician wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:16 pm I don't think Brady worries about just HIS stats... Yes Mike had a good day, when I'm satisfied with Tom/Mike I will inform you.Moozician wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 12:49 pmOk, Mr. stat guy...

As some of you guys have alluded to, Brady is all about winning. He simply can't stand losing. He is all about perfection and can't stand when the team does not execute to its potential, i.e. leave plays out there on the field. I would argue that Brady could be one of the players in the league that cares the least about personal stats. You don't see other qbs throw 3 straight incompletes to burn 10 secs off the clock. You don't see other qbs throw it at the feet or over the head of an intended target as much as Brady. Obviously, his lack of mobility is part of this as well, but there are plenty of quarterbacks who would rather take the sack to protect their personal stats. Hello, early A-rod. Also, did you guys notice how happy Brady was when we beat NE? That was by far his worst statistical game, but he genuinely seemed happy about the win.
Brady wants to win a super bowl and he understand for him(and the team) to have the biggest chances of doing so, he needs positive and happy teammates. Getting all of his 3 top targets involved obviously helps. Especially someone like Mike, who undeniably seems to be very frustrated when things do not go his way. Yes, you don't need to have a ph.d. in psychology to deduce that Mike might be one of the players who care by far the most about his personal stats, regardless of what he actually says. So yeah, imho, getting Mike involved in the 4th quarter of the game yesterday had absolutely nothing to do with Brady padding his personal stats, but a lot more to do with Mike. I felt like Brady+Mike have missed some big plays out there in earlier games and in this game, so why not work on that?
Obviously, this was also about the game being a 1 score game at the start of the 4th and the fact that the passing offense tried to get in some additional reps after a poor showing @NE. Afterall, actual game reps > reps in practice. And for what it's worth, it's not like Brady got back out there with 8 mins left. I'm sorry, but I saw no padding of stats at all..instead I saw a football team trying to win a football game in a manner that would give them the most momentum going forward.

Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
Our secondary is garbage, our front seven are still fucking insane, and our offense is pretty much as unstoppable as it gets. The Dolphins do not have a bad defense and we moved the ball like they had fielded backups from a FCS team.
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
6 of those for this year are QB Scrambles.
Where do TFL’s come from?
1) Running the football at all. Teams just aren’t running against us. That is obviously the most zoomed out factor.
2) 1st Down Runs are a huge source of TFLs for us because that is when Bowles Ikes to scheme box advantages and overload blitzes and run blitzes.
We are seeing a historical lack of running the football against us on 1st down; 71+ % ratio Pass:Run.
3) Outside Zone teams suffer more TFLs. We’ve seen two team that run it and one of them features it. Neither team ran the ball against us.
4) Zone Read Option Keep and/or designed runs are a source of TFLs. We’ve seen very little of this so far.
5) Tunnel Screens where a back 7 defender sniffs it out and makes a play through/around a blocker to generate a TFL. We’ve seen tons of perimeter Screens but we’re scheming ourselves out of winning and the DBs/Overhang defenders who could generate the TFL aren’t making the play (we’re seeing a lot of quick play-action misdirection to wrongfoot ILB/Overhang and then the Screen the other way.
So it’s a combo of scheming + play calling + guys just not winning (shocker I know).

I posted this in another thread, but just to be consistent, the Dolphins defense is complete trash, ranking 30th in the league by giving up nearly 31 PPG.The Outsider wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 3:12 pm Our secondary is garbage, our front seven are still fucking insane, and our offense is pretty much as unstoppable as it gets. Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
So, most likely, the 3 remaining games and then the bye.
That sucks. You could already see the defense get a tick slower when he left the field.
The good news is, our next two are still highly winnable without him. The Saints? Payton and Kamara could expose Minter.

Interesting note: he'd only missed 7 games in his first 9 years in the league. Pretty damn impressive for a smallish linebacker.

Derrick Brooks lol's at missing 7x more game.

Price of your life going up, it's not inflation
Re: Rapid Reactions Week 5: 45-17 win vs Miami
If Devin White continues to develop and reaches his ceiling, could any other team match the LB succession of Brooks to LVD to White?
That will ultimately be like 30 straight years of having an elite LB on a team.

How dare you not add Barrett Ruud to that list...

I read that a little differently than you. I think Brady keeps pushing the ball because honestly our defense isn’t exactly great. Also those reps with Evans will pay dividends down the road.uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 11, 2021 11:02 am It does appear that this season stats are really important to Brady, more so than I've ever seen before.
We all saw it late in the LA game when the game was out of reach and then yesterday, with the game already locked away in the 4th...Brady still going deep for more.
Of course if he just wants to break 6K yards and 55 TDs I don’t have a problem with that.
