I keep playing it out in my mind’s eye. Or trying to. This feels razor thin and Vegas agrees.

Rams have the fewest defensive penalties in the NFL. They have the second fewest on offense.
Extremely disciplined. Usually the case under McVay. though teams usually pay the defensive penalty tax against Brady. Bucs shouldn’t except anything for free regardless.

Conversely, Bucs are 3rd in NFL in total offensive penalties committed. 16th defensively. I think secondary may be good for a couple big ones today.

Agreed on getting Stafford off platform. Dude looks old and stiff on the move. Will Barrett and Tryon take advantage of a Vea altered pocket?

Stafford is 13th in NFL in time to throw. 16th in attempted air yards. While 3rd to last in the NFL in passing aggressiveness%. Aggressiveness meaning number of passes into tight coverage. So he has time to throw, he’s adequately pushing it downfield, to mostly open WRs. Can the Bucs get to him faster? Can they play tight coverage? I believe the former is way more likely than the latter. I think Rams probably get what they want through the air. If the Bucs have to get White back there in coverage, he’s gonna get torn up. Rams are #1 in NFL in YAC averages.

Bucs lead NFL in total blitzes. They only have two sacks (2nd to last). It stands to reason that McVay’s gameplan will take advantage. With the quick hitter stuff and misdirection. Both teams are identical in missed tackles and QB pressures. Small
Sample size caveat.



Last relevant stat:

Buccaneers are #1 in NFL in times pressures per drop back. Brady is only pressured 10% of the time. Rams? 3rd. 11.9%.

Brady has only scrambled once. Stafford? Once. Both bottom in NFL.


Who is gonna get to the QB today? Who has the better pass rush?

Rams and Bucs defenses are tied in total QB hurries and pressures.


When it’s this close, I go with the better coach. I’m going Rams win and cover.
