I think Indy is the best bet. They have a team that could contend for the Super Bowl if they had a QB. Baker is the best option available since Houston wouldnt let the Colts talk to Watson and if he doesn’t work out they can easily move on and not offer him a deal. With that said, how many years in a row can you trade your picks for stopgap QBs? Colts are in a rough spot, but tough to feel bad for them after they had years of Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck.MJW wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 2:05 amYeah, I would not want Baker either under these conditions.Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 16, 2022 6:28 am
It doesn’t make sense for the Texans to want him. He has one year left and will demand a starting QB salary in his first non rookie deal. They are a rebuilding team that shouldn’t be paying someone like Baker Mayfield to take them nowhere. Davis Mills quietly balled for a rookie and has three years left on his deal for dirt cheap. They should see what he can do and just draft a new QB if he isn’t legit.
So where does he end up?
Miami, but it would be kind of a lateral move.
Indianapolis - kind of the smart bet. They haven't done anything yet and they don't have anyone.
Detroit - Is he better than Goff? He's younger and cheaper. And he seems like the kind of guy they'd embrace.
New Orleans/Carolina/Atlanta - Does he look attractive to the runners up of the Watson derby?
Seattle - I don't see the point, unless Schneider/Carroll are fans.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Wondering who is going to be kept at the bottom of the wide receiver depth chart. Seems to reason that Scotty Miller will be here. Deep threat extraordinaire. Any ideas?

Miller was in the dog house after he came back last year. He was below TJ and Cyril and probably below Perriman was well.

What's the plan, I hear we got no money and those 17 spots are just sitting there. We got no draft picks so how do we replace those players?
Their kinda quiet right now but their voice could grow quite load if about 15 or so players on our roster right now managed to get playing time.

Really? I thought it was a turf toe that kept him off the field all season, I remember an announcer mentioning it in a game late in the season once Miller did finally get on the field.uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 10:31 amMiller was in the dog house after he came back last year. Miller towards the end of the season was good enough to play on special teams, but he wasn't getting many snaps on offense.Heidguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 11:55 amReally? While I really like the guy, I wonder if perhaps his star has lost its shine. Not sure if it's deserved, but as the depth chart currently sits, Miller is going to have to work his ass off to make the roster. So are all the other receivers not named Evans, Godwin, or Gage.
I just realized that the last names of our starting wide receiver trio as an acronym is EGG. Take that as you will.

He came back week 11 and logged under 30 snaps until the playoffs. He played in 25% of the total snaps vs Philly and 75% against the Rams.Heidguy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 11:55 amReally? Maybe he was still hurt, but he was active from week 11 on.

Salary Cap update:
With the Gage signing not being processed (we don't know about the contract structure), we're currently 18M under the cap.
That includes the extensions of Godwin, Jensen, Davis and Brate, the salary of Shaq Mason and the restructures of Evans, Barrett and Vea.
Reworking Brady, Smith and David could free up another 28M.

Does that number include the signing of our projected draft picks?
And yes, they need to rework everybody who is willing to work with the team. All in

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Rookie contracts aren't included. We'll probably need 10 M for rookies + season operations/practice squad salaries.

Plenty of money to grab Gronk, LF, even Suh if we so desired.

Might as well bring Suh back. He's already costing us $6.8mil in cap space. $4mil brings that up past $10mil.

Kyle Pitts tweeted that the Falcons are about to get scary with a zipper over mouth emoji, but deleted it right away.
As I said this morning, it sounds like it's Atlanta.

I'd guess Julio would go back, but they'd have to sign someone. Maybe Robinson?Phantom wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:47 pmIf Watson join Atlanta, they only have Pitts.. who else?uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:43 pm Kyle Pitts tweeted that the Falcons are about to get scary with a zipper over mouth emoji, but deleted it right away.

Their offensive line and defense isn't good, either.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Ridley will still be there. Watson going to Atlanta or anywhere really would be a long-term plan. Pitts was born in 2000 and has 4 more cost controlled years left on his deal. Watson would have 4. Ridley wouldn't play this year but would still be under contract for 2023 and beyond if they want to keep him.Phantom wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:47 pmIf Watson join Atlanta, they only have Pitts.. who else?uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Thu Mar 17, 2022 1:43 pm Kyle Pitts tweeted that the Falcons are about to get scary with a zipper over mouth emoji, but deleted it right away.

Might be a while until they are competitive but they are a young team with a young HC. It'd be the long game there.

So we never offered Whitehead a deal. I’m surprised, maybe they thought he was a system producer. He was great last year.
Brady apparently recruiting Julio Jones.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
If Jones comes here on vet minimum salary, sure. He'd basically be insurance in case something happened to Evans or Godwin. That's what I'd do anyway. Dude obviously can't handle the rigors of a full practice week and a full game but to have him waiting in the wings, staying healthy, maybe playing ~15 snaps a game to keep him from getting super rusty.
But this is not likely to happen and there is literally no other scenario in which I'd even entertain signing Julio Jones at this point.
