I thought the same thing, but yeah, apparently got it fresh off the plane. I'd have rocked it too. It's nice.

I'm 99% sure the G is not pronounced like a G in egg. More like "Eh" with a hard stop and then "boo-kuh" and it's not any different than that fraction of a second between consonants in hyphenated last names like "Preston-Lashley"Grahamburn wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 9:16 amIs the "g" silent? Seems like announcers don't pronounce it.
I know there's an actual linguistic terminology for what I'm describing but heck if I know what it is.

Steve Smith is pretty knowledgeable. Had to be, to be as good as he was at his size.

I want to punch Steve Smith in the face and then have at least a minute to get away.

From what I can see, just throw a plate of cookies down afterwards. and he should be sufficiently distracted.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:30 pm I want to punch Steve Smith in the face and then have at least a minute to get away.

Not gonna lie, I have a love hate issue with Steve Smith. I was a huge Bucs fan and a huge Panthers fan when the Panthers were an expansion. Just something about the underdogs I guess. Then the divisions got aligned. And it was love hate at first, then the Panthers got Cam Newton and I kind of just stopped watching the Panthers after that. I still agree with what Steve Smith said about him.

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
Knowing what I now know about Godwin, this pick is starting to make a lot more sense. What felt like a luxury pick at first now seems like it was needed if Chris isn't ready for week one. The Godwin injury is concerning. He's such a big part of Buccaneer football.
There's a good chance he is a starting WR in week one, so I better start liking him. I do like the way he excels at finding soft spots in zone coverages. He gets wide open.

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
He likes Egbuka but if you go look at his overall WR rankings if we're trusting his evaluation, he said Matthew Golden is the best WR prospect. "Because it's just that big of a gap between Matthew Golden and Emeka Egbuka".
So in that case, I hope he is wrong.

You're right. It should have been defensive holding, not PI.Doctor wrote: ↑Thu May 01, 2025 10:01 amWhy you gotta bring that one up. Such a BS call.Selmon Rules wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:52 pm

Arm wrapped completely around the receiver and holding him like @Zarni holds hookers when he pays for cuddling after.

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
"When you have a defensive head coach like Todd [Bowles], and he's raving about this guy and excited throughout the whole draft process hoping that he's going to be there for us, then that's a great tell," Licht said. "There were multiple defensive players we could have taken there and felt good about it, but [Egbuka] was the unanimous 'we need this guy, we can't let his guy slip us' ... let's just take him and be happy."
Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
I swear I remember last season how there was all the hype around Marvin Harrison Jr. but I’d often read things like about Egbuka actually being the guy to get on that offense.

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
I'd be interested in where you read that. If Harrison & Egbuka were in the same draft and you asked all 32 GMs who they'd take, I think 32 would say Marvin Harrison Jr. His floor and ceiling are higher than Egbuka. He has the height, size, speed that you simply can't coach. That isn't a knock on Egbuka at all. But Harrison is special.

All the ladies I know say size isn’t everything.
Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
I asked AI to cite some articles from 2023/2024 that had both MHjr and Egbuka. MHJR. was always rated WR#1 and possible #1 player in draft. Egbuka was seen as WR#3 behind MHjr. and Nabers, had he declared

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
Egbuka is going to have a big role in the Bucs' offense, especially with Chris Godwin still recovering from ankle surgery, and even after. He has shown up a ton in the short passing game -- really helping Tampa Bay stretch the field horizontally, and at times looking like a running back once the ball is in his hands -- but he's also been on the end of some big plays downfield.
"The thing that sticks out is how cerebral he is," QB Baker Mayfield said. "He's so smart. Right now, I think we could plug-and-play him at every [wide] receiver spot; he understands the offense that well. That's just him being a pro already." -- Jenna Laine

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
Have the Bucs ever actually said what Godwin's real injury was? If there's still questions about his availability, his injury was much more than a dislocated ankle.
Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
I think @Bootz dove into the related parts which were also likely injured in the process, but I don't recall the details.CannonFire wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 11:53 am Have the Bucs ever actually said what Godwin's real injury was? Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
There was confusion over whether he suffered a fracture or dislocation. Fracture would be broken bones and no damage to any soft/connective tissue (muscle, tendons/ligaments etc.) Think Vita Vea in 2020. Broke his ankle but he came back 3 months later to play in the Superbowl run. Dislocation means there is damage to the tissue, along with fractured bone. I mentioned Jordan Travis, who had to retire because his dislocation never fully healed.__Chef__ wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 12:03 pmI think @Bootz dove into the related parts which were also likely injured in the process, but I don't recall the details.CannonFire wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 11:53 am Have the Bucs ever actually said what Godwin's real injury was? This timeline confirms to me he suffered at least some serious tissue damage and possibly nerve damage. Bowles acknowledging that he can't even do workouts outdoors yet means they're still worried about the stability of the ankle on different terrains.
We'll see what his availability is next month for TC. If he can't go, I'd be extremely worried about the prognosis for the rest of his career.

Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
Thanks. Yeah, I figured it was much worse than they stated. It does make me more convinced that this is the reason we went with Egbuka instead of someone on defense.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 12:16 pmThere was confusion over whether he suffered a fracture or dislocation. Re: Welcome to Tampa, Emeka Egbuka
Yea I think that's becoming clearer by the day. Egbuka basically has the same skills set as Godwin and we used a top 20 on a practically identical player.CannonFire wrote: ↑Wed Jun 25, 2025 1:18 pmThanks. Ah, yes. The Bucs fucked up yet again. They have one of the suckiest operations in the NFL.
