Great pic, thx for posting.

Baker has always expressed a lot of respect and admiration for Fred Warner. I don't think they're 'friends' off the field, but Baker loves the way Warner plays the game and has always said so.

Hey, like I said in the other thread, Todd Bowles is a better HC this year than he was in years past. He's proving me wrong.
As variables change, all we can do is have our eyes open to recognizing them, and not too stubborn to admit it.

(I still say Bowles position coaches should be upgraded, especially DL)

I think coaches generally get better with their second job or don't have it very long. Seems to me that when a coach gets a second chance, they stick around for a while and they've learned, or they're fired after 2 years.

I'm not sure Bowles is any different though, to be honest. I live in NJ, the Jets were always on TV here. I'm not so sure he's coaching any differently here as an HC or DC than he did with them. I think mainly that the talent is better.

Now, what I don't truly know is how much input he has on talent evaluation. With the Jets, he had very little. If I recall, it was a long time ago and I'm 50 lol, I believe his only input was positions the team needed to address, but Mike Maccagnan was the one pulling the trigger on the players. When it came to staff, it was 100% him (if I recall). At the time, I think the GM was Idzik (pre-Maccagnan), and thought he actually did a "decent" job with player evaluation. I think if they kept him instead of cleaning house, I think Bowles' tenure with the Jets would've been better.

Bowles runs a system of blitzing a ton. Always has, still does. He needs the right players. If he doesn't have them, he's not one to give in. I think he's still that guy. It's why I think he's "ok" as an HC/DC. I don't think he sucks at all, but he's fine. Give him the right talent, he'll be great. Give him bad talent, he'll stink.

Right, but this team is currently talent depleted due to injuries ...

Baker Mayfield should lead the race for MVP. The Bucs leading the NFC South is not a surprise – they've won it the last four seasons in a row. But Mayfield has elevated his game and willed the Bucs to a 5-1 record, all without playing a single game with his full complement of wide receivers. Sunday was a Baker tour de force, even after he was down his top four receivers. In the third quarter, on third and 14, the 49ers appeared to be about to sack Mayfield for a big loss. Mayfield sprung loose, rambled to his left, pump-faked a few times, kept moving, somehow eluded a defender, absorbed a hit and then dove for the first down line. Two plays later, he threw a 45-yard dime for a touchdown to rookie Tez Johnson. He finished 17 of 23 for 256 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions, but it was that third quarter sequence that should be on the MVP nomination reel. He has thrown 12 touchdowns and just one interception.

I think Baker might be leading the MVP race after Josh just pissed his pants tonight. Crazy to believe, but it might just happen.

Nope, he's tied with Josh for 2nd.

Lol@ some of these and I need to hear about him trying to outrun a cop

@BallsackSports
Baker Mayfield might win both a Heisman and an NFL MVP despite:

•being a backup on his freshman HS team
•being a backup on varsity as sophomore
•holding only 5 offers as a 3 star recruit and choosing to walk-on
•losing starting job in 2013 as college freshman after getting injured
•missing entire 2014 season because of transfer rules
•suffering two major concussions in 2015, making his career uncertain
•failing to outrun cops in 2016
•apologizing for grabbing nuts to taunt Kansas in 2017
•being traded by Browns in 2022 after getting injured
•playing scout team defensive end for Carolina
•getting cut by Carolina after getting injured
•getting cut by Rams after leading 98 yard game winning drive
•having one final make it or break it deal with the Bucs to stay in NFL

Greatest. Underdog. Ever.

I had never heard about this and all I can say is that if any of what I survived was on social media I would be unemployable. #humbled

AI Overview
Baker Mayfield Has 'So Much Regret' About Police Tackle Incident
No, Baker Mayfield did not outrun the police; he was tackled after attempting to flee from officers in 2017. He was arrested for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, and was ultimately charged with public intoxication and disorderly conduct, for which he received fines and community service as a plea bargain.
Incident details: In February 2017, Fayetteville, Arkansas police responded to an altercation and found a public intoxication-related scene with Mayfield, who tried to run from officers when they tried to question him.
Arrest: He was chased, tackled into a concrete wall, and arrested, facing charges including public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
Resolution: After his arrest, Mayfield reached a plea deal that resulted in fines, community service, and alcohol education. He publicly apologized for his actions.
Media attention: Dashcam video of the arrest was later released, which gained significant media attention

If I thought baker kept track of such things I'd rather they kept underestimating him and his odds were still around +2000, just to keep that fire going.

But if I'm being completely honest, I'm kind of siding with LV a little here anyway. Baker's my dude, but he hasn't put up a truly consistent season yet. Even I need to see him play a whole season without the roller coaster performances before I'm willing to say he really deserves to be in the MVP conversation.

So far though, Baker is killing it.

Just watched 'Up & Adams' with Boomer Esiason (aired yesterday, on YT), and he said that he was a MVP voter, up until very recently. he let slip that Coach Cowher, Nate Burelson and Matt Ryan are voters (still, to his knowledge), fwiw. just thought it was an interesting tidbit.

I didn’t see that coming from him

Former Bucs’ rival Drew Brees has named the Buccaneers his No. 1 NFL team 😮🔥

“They’ve earned it. They find ways to win. Baker Mayfield’s playing outstanding. I love watching that defense. Aggressive, they’re going to light you up.

They don’t care because they know they’ve got one of the best QBs in the league right now.”

I really want to know what he loves watching our defense? Perhaps he also like Halloween horror nights or roller coasters

It really wierd hearing the star players from hated division rivals just layering the praise on Tampa. Cam, Steve Smith, Matty Ice and now Brees have all pegged Tampa as #1 and just keep going on and on about Mayfield.

Also, from someone on Youtube. Baker has so much dog in his that Mike Vick isn't allowed within 300 feet.

But Mahomes and Allen have? We're judging this season. Not past seasons.

Just a few stats as of now:
Baker 5-1: 1539 yards / 66.2% / 12 TD / 1 Int
Mahomes 3-3: 1514 yards / 64.8% / 11 TD / 2 Int
Allen 4-2: 1397 yards / 68.5% / 11 TD / 4 Int

Hey, I get it, and I'm with you, trust me.

I'm just trying to not be too much of a Baker bro fan. I know I'm pretty biased, so I'm trying to be as objective as i can. Except during GDTs, lol.

Anyway, I'm just saying, that IF Baker has a mini-slump, say has two-three clunkers in a row or out-of-3 or 4 game stretch, that probably will impact his chances at winning the MVP.

At the same time, I'm not saying he has to play at this current level all season; just like any MVP-winning QB he'll likely have a less-than-MVP level performance or two over the next 11 games. just can't have a meltdown game or whatever, which I don't think we have to worry about, but there's a non-zero chance it could happen. he could get hurt. Or he could just have an off day, or maybe we have some fluke injury game where EVERYONE gets hurt in the same game. things happen.

We'll see how it goes, and I'm pretty confident about how things are going to pan out, what with Goedeke coming back at some point, Evans hopefully coming back in the near future, along with Bucky and EE. once we get even just a couple of those guys back, Baker is going to feast, particularly down the stretch.

Of course, Mahomes is heating up and getting Rice back this week, and might just eclipse Baker before season's end. LV already has pat ahead, and imo that's not based on performance, because I don't think Pat has played better than Baker through 6 weeks, not even close. But LV is going to do what they do.
