Sooner06 wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:44 pm Just fyi, today on Nick Wright's 'Mahomes' Mountain,' Baker moved up to 6th-best QB in the league. Which, interestingly, is also where PFF/PFN (one of the two, I forget which) rank him through 17 weeks.

Another statistical tidbit, Baker's 73 passing TDs since the beginning of the 2023 season are 1st in the league among all starting QBs, per Nick Wright.

And now for your viewing pleasure, Baker was featured yet again on JTS' QB School:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzeMMgPdRl8
Nick Wright is like a less angry but just as ridiculous Skip Bayless. He went viral the other day with the take the Patriots should take Travis Hunter #1, trade Drake Maye, who'll somehow net the #2 pick, draft Shedur Sanders, fire Jerod Mayo and hire Deion Sanders as HC.

Oh, no doubt Nick's schtick is almost as obnoxious as Skip's. Even as a Chiefs fan, I roll my eyes at many of Nick's 'analyses' any time I find myself watching him. Just thought it was mildly interesting that Nick and PFF/PFN were in agreement at the same time, because I'm pretty sure that's not usually the case. I mean, he has Mahomes always (pretty much) at the top of the mountain, and Pat certainly hasn't been better than Josh this season, either statistically or on tape. So we know he isn't the most unbiased analyst, lol.

Yeah, I was just a few posts down before I realized I was on page 1. Then I saw that one and thought just how much more not upset we should all be to have avoided the QB doldrums.

I just look at some of these QBless teams and think, that should be us. And yet here we are with Baker, dark horse MVP.

Its such a weird feeling to have a qb that is actually good and we have him for pretty much as long as we want him.

We've never had this before.

This is why I can't believe some of our fanbase throw shade at him.

I feel like you could make two lists. The QB's you'd take over him right now NFL/college, and then a list of QB's that will actually be available to the Bucs in 2024.

Baker is top 15 in the first one and right at the top in the second one.
Taking a "guy" because he's the "best available" when there's slim pickings isn't promising. I believe Cousins and Wilson are FA's also, I'll take both over Mayfield. The ONLY thing that would push me towards favoring Mayfield is if Evans wants him back to re-sign. Otherwise, I'd rather pay Cousins.

My list of guys in the league that I'd rather have than him are (no particular order)...
Jalen Hurts
Jordan Love
Jared Goff
Kirk Cousins
Matt Stafford
Brock Purdy
Tua
Josh Allen
Aaron Rodgers
Lamar Jackson
Joe Burrow
Trevor Lawarence
Bryce Young
Dereck Carr
Anthony Richardson
Deshaun Watson
CJ Stroud
Mahomes
Herbert

That's not including guys who I think are either debatable or higher risk/higher award...
Fields
Russell Wilson
Kyler Murray
Sam Howell

Not counting rookies, I think he's in the 20-25 range.

Babeinbucland wrote: Fri Jan 19, 2024 11:20 pm Y’all’s thoughts on this:

This is extremely interesting regarding Bakers career thus far.
- Bakers rookie year, in Cleveland -
He had TWO different head coaches. Both have not had a head coaching job since.
- Bakers 2nd year, in Cleveland -
He had a completely new ROOKIE HEAD COACH… He has not had a head coaching job since.
- Bakers 3rd & 4th season, in Cleveland -
He had a completely new ROOKIE HEAD COACH. He is still currently coaching. To this day, Baker led him to his most coaching victories in a season, including the Browns playoff run this year.
- Bakers 5th season, in Carolina & LA -
He played for a total of THREE head coaches. He started the season with Carolina and played for two different head coaches while there, both have not had a head coaching job since…(also notable: this organization also got rid of Christian McCaffrey this same year). They went 2-15 this year, last in the league.
He ended his 5th season with the LA Rams for one head coach. The Rams were tied for the worst record in the NFC and were last in their division at 3-9 when they brought Baker in to close out their season.

- Bakers 6th season, in Tampa -
This is the very first season in Bakers entire NFL career where he has not played for either a ROOKIE HEAD COACH or multiple head coaches in a season. Baker set numerous career records this season.
- Not counting current Bowles, 5 of the 7 head coaches Baker previously played for are no longer head coaches.
-
This aged pretty well

Don't look now, but Baker's been better over the last 35 games than every QB on your list except maybe Mahomes, Josh, Burrow and Goff. And it hasn't been particularly close.

At this point, anyone that doesn’t think Baker is an above avg QB cannot be taken seriously. They have to be trolling.

No offense @CannonFire.

I love your play breakdowns and analysis but, if I ran an NFL team, you wouldn’t be in charge of evaluating players.
