The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Might be just the kickoff change.

Look him up on X. His soon to be ex-wife made a pretty damning tik tok about alleged abuse.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 6:35 amTo what are you referring? I don’t see any news. Thought it was odd they’d release him though, so makes sense there may have been more to the story.

With what money? Even with cap tricks, that’s a tough one to envision.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
It's actually possible from our perspective.
His base is only $8mil this year. If he gets traded any prorated portion (signing bonuses, restructures, etc) are the responsibility of the team trading him.
If we acquired him, we could take him $8mil vase, that's all we'd be responsible for, and restructure it. Give him $6mil now, treat it like a signing bonus, slap on a voided year in 2026 and have him under contract for the next 2 seasons.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
My bad, corrected.
I'd do it. I think we've done the bare minimum in addressing our EDGE position and Bosa even at this stage of his career is better than what we have.
That said, from the Chargers perspective though it would make zero sense. They've already paid him a $7mil signing bonus when they re did his deal earlier this year. They'd be eating a out $30mil in dead money over the next 2 seasons while saving just $8mil

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
I’d do it too, now that you’ve proven it’s possible. I’m curious what the draft capital would be in return.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
He's under contract for 2025 as well ($13M base and $12M roster bonus), that we'd be on the hook for. Works for me... I'd just wait until after the season and give him an extension. Give him a 3-yr extension worth $20M AAV and turn that $13M into out over 4 years and he'll only cost us $15M and change next year.Bootz wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:00 pmIt's actually possible from our perspective.

What's the compensation though?
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
My Charger friends are ready to move on from Bosa due to injury concerns.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
@CannonFire
2025 conditional 3rd that could become a 2nd if certain criteria is met. Namely playing time because he's injury prone

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Creative, but no.
You’re an Evans injury away from starting McMillan and Palmer. Godwin may be on the backslide. He’s still a proven commodity.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Because Godwin needs a new deal, I'd think the Chargers would want that worked out prior to the trade. Otherwise, Godwin's value is nominal. I think what @Bootz noted as compensation, Godwin would be considered a throw in. At the cost of a 3, possible 2, Godwin doesn't drop the price if he's going over as a 1-yr rental.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Apparently these guys are all free agents. Trade Godwin for Bosa and sign a name off this list. IDK, doesn't seem too crazy...
Michael Thomas
Hunter Renfrow
Mecole Hardman
Corey Davis
Julio Jones
Russell Gage
Randall Cobb
Sterling Shepard
Makes sense to me b/c Chargers need WR, we need DE, and both Bosa/Godwin have similar value.
Down for Bosa though irrespective of Godwin

I see eight variants of toast.
If we had Mahomes, I would agree with you.

We don't have the WR depth to make that deal.Sdbucs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:42 pmApparently these guys are all free agents. Trade Godwin for Bosa and sign a name off this list. IDK, doesn't seem too crazy...

How many games has BOSA played in the last two seasons. (14)Sdbucs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:42 pmApparently these guys are all free agents. Trade Godwin for Bosa and sign a name off this list. IDK, doesn't seem too crazy...

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Bosa is a fun name, but you don't get much of a player with him anymore. Trade for Reddick. At least he has some real production the last couple years.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
Reddick was traded to the Jets for the exact same conditional 3rd I proposed for Bosa.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 1:55 pm Bosa is a fun name, but you don't get much of a player with him anymore. Trade for Reddick. At least he has some real production the last couple years.

I would rather have Mack, even at his advanced age, he still a force.

Bucs sign WR Cody Thompson.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
One of those 8 variants of toast @Snake was talking about. He's also been injured a ton the past few years. 35 total games played since 2021 and a torn ACL 2 seasons ago. Also hasn't been a consistent starter for the Giants since 2020. Might not even make it out of camp.

Correction, I should've been clearer. He won't be participating without a new deal but he will be there in attendance to avoid the fines.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 1:32 pmI'd love to be as premature with Jenna Laine as she is with us.
