He's a 7th round pick. Not exactly a lock to make the Jags roster. Could be this year's Jose Ramirez.

Do we need to start a gofundme for Winfield Jr. to get the poor guy some shoes?

I saw that when I went to the Bucs roster. I'm really interested at who can put their mark up on this d-line.

Actually any new faces.

You hate to see it.

Yesterday I put my link to it in the 2024 offseason thread as I feel he doesnt belong in the Bucs offseason thread.

Bucs' OTA Insider 5/28/24:
One of the big areas of focus for second-year right guard Cody Mauch this offseason has been getting stronger and putting on some weight. That was a big topic of conversation after Tuesday’s practice, with head coach Todd Bowles saying Mauch looks bigger this summer.

“Obviously, the biggest thing for Cody is a little bit more strength,” Bowles said. “Obviously, coming in out of college last year, he worked on that in the offseason and he looks bigger. He’s always been smart, he’s always been tough and I think the game has slowed down for him quite a bit. Just look for him to take the next step mentally.”

Mauch then told the media that he’s put on 10-15 pounds this offseason by introducing some things into his diet and working out in the weight room with Tristan Wirfs and Luke Goedeke, who are known to be the Bucs’ big lifters. Also of note, Mauch said as far as he knows, he’s sticking at right guard. That makes sense given the plan for Graham Barton to play center and Sua Opeta or Ben Bredeson to play left guard, but Mauch also said if he’s asked to switch sides of the line that he can roll with that as it comes.

I hope Baker spreads the ball around at a high level to the extent where we bring players off the bench and we don't miss a beat.

“One of the biggest things for me this offseason was wanting to get a little bit more strength, put on a little bit more weight,” Mauch said. “It’s been good so far. I’ve been doing a lot better in the weight room. I’ve put on, I don’t know, 12 to 15 pounds. [It] has been a pretty good offseason, and just seeing if we can get that to correlate on the field as well.”

Those 12 to 15 pounds added to Mauch’s 6-6, 303-pound frame puts him around the 315-320-pound mark. It was evident at times last season that he was overpowered, but he has much more of a guard physique heading into this season.

Mauch seems to understood much better what weight gain means than those pounding the table for him do.

Mauch spending the off-season working out at OBP with Wirfs and Goedecke is a good thing.
“Those are great guys to lift with. Trying to just keep up with what Tristan’s doing, you’re never going to do it but it’s kind of a good goal to have. You know, just keep up with him,” Mauch said. “Hanging around with those guys and just really dialing in to what they have on the workout card and just doing that to the best of your ability.”

Those pounding the table are somehow wrong because they said he’s likely to gain “weight” in the off-season to help him improve his play instead of saying “strength” like they should have. Cutting edge semantics stuff.

As if those suggesting “weight” meant Mauch would be sucking down donut smoothies between his missing chiclets and just getting fat.

Exactly. And based on his quote he's not making excuses or denying the fact that he needs to get stronger. He's also aware of the fact that adding weight and having it translate onto the field are separate processes. Those pounding the table aren't cognizant of those facrs.

Take out everyone's division opponents, and you have a complete 180 (for the Bucs). The Bucs have the 5th hardest schedule in the NFL, among non-division opponents. Take notice of where the Falcons and Saints are. If you just look at the whole, the Bucs, Falcons, and the Saints are similar... but when you take each others records out of the equation (thanks to 2 games against a 2-win Panthers), the Bucs' schedule isn't quite so close.

RK TM PCT
1 Buffalo Bills 0.561
2 Dallas Cowboys 0.556
2 Houston Texans 0.556
4 Kansas City Chiefs 0.551
5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 0.545
6 Detroit Lions 0.540
7 Green Bay Packers 0.535
7 Las Vegas Raiders 0.535
7 San Francisco 49ers 0.535
10 Jacksonville Jaguars 0.524
10 Philadelphia Eagles 0.524
12 Miami Dolphins 0.519
13 Los Angeles Rams 0.513
14 Denver Broncos 0.508
14 New Orleans Saints 0.508
14 New York Giants 0.508
17 Cleveland Browns 0.503
17 New York Jets 0.503
19 Indianapolis Colts 0.492
20 New England Patriots 0.487
21 Atlanta Falcons 0.476
21 Minnesota Vikings 0.476
21 Seattle Seahawks 0.476
24 Baltimore Ravens 0.471
24 Pittsburgh Steelers 0.471
26 Washington Commanders 0.465
27 Tennessee Titans 0.460
28 Carolina Panthers 0.455
29 Los Angeles Chargers 0.449
30 Arizona Cardinals 0.422
30 Chicago Bears 0.422
32 Cincinnati Bengals 0.412
It is literally not even close. I'll eliminate common opponents and division opponents. Here are the unique opponents for our division:

Falcons: SEA, PIT, MIN.
Bucs: SF, BAL, DET.
Saints: CLE, LAR, GB
Panthers: AZ, CIN, CHI.

We get three of the absolute best teams in football. Three teams that could all be considered superbowl contenders.

Falcons get a good SEA, a PIT with question marks, and a bottom of the barrel MIN.

Not even close.

Bro, act like you've been here before.

Yes, division champions get harder schedules the following year. It's literally by design.

And this isn't European soccer, at the end you always have to face the best teams. Iron sharpens Iron. I don't get why you wouldn't want to test where you are and get an early look at your opponent pre playoffs. Because you might get a little L on your regular season record? Oh no, boo hoo. Just make the playoffs and bring your winter A-game.

ESPN has an absolutely brutal prediction for the Buccaneers in 2024
Once again the Bucs are getting utterly disrespected.
By Josh Hill | May 30, 2024

As we reach a lull in the NFL offseason, eyes are starting to turn toward the future and what next season might hold. Once again, much like last season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are being picked to do absolutely nothing notable.
Last year the Bucs were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league following the retirement of Tom Brady. There was no way, in the eyes of analysts and experts, that a team that was lifted up so much by Brady would stand on its own without him.

As it turns out, that was a massive miscalculation and a complete misunderstanding of how the Bucs are run. Jason Licht responded to the negativity by crafting a team that won a third straight division title and punched a ticket to the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year.
Despite all of this, the Bucs are once again being forced to grow the chip that's already on their shoulder.
ESPN predicts Buccaneers will take a massive step back in 2024
In their annual Football Power Index ratings, which breaks down everything from win projections to playoff and Super Bowl chances, ESPN absolutely buried the Buccaneers.

ESPN has the Bucs finishing in the bottom ten in the league and third place in the NFC South. Keep in mind that this comes a year after the Bucs were within reach of the NFC Championship Game and nobody in the division got significantly better.
Tampa Bay, meanwhile, brought back every single piece that made last season work as well as some new additions like Jordan Whitehead and Randy Gregory, but none of that seems to matter.

Not only did the Buccaneers take a huge step back according to ESPN's rankings, but the FPI projection for Tampa Bay has the team with just a 33 percent chance of making the playoffs.
The Bears, Colts, and Jaguars all have better odds of making the Super Bowl than the Bucs, so let that sink in for a moment.
It's not entirely surprising to see the Bucs get disrespected like this, as it's seemingly come with the territory ever since Tom Brady retired. Everyone seems to think that team is automatically going to regress to the afterthought it was for most of the decade prior to Brady's arrival, but these predictions simply tell that nobody is actually paying attention to the Bucs.

Tampa Bay won't have an easy road, but their path toward being as good if not better than last year isn't the mountain climbing expedition it's being made out to be. The Falcons got better but created a mess at quarterback, the Saints haven't done much to significantly improve, and the Panthers are still widely expected to be among the worst teams in the league.
Last year the Bucs were fueled by a chip on their shoulder after getting counted down and out before the season even started. That ended with the team reaching the NFC Divison Round and it seems the disrespect is something else being run back in Tampa Bay this season.
I said what I said
