He’s the 32nd overall pick who sat out last year. It shouldn’t be frustrating nor surprising that’s he’s not ready to win the chess match yet. Most everyone acknowledged and understood this when he was drafted in April. No one was expecting him to contribute much this year. This was supposed to be a learning year for him.MJW wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 12:20 amTryon is frustrating to watch because you can see the talent is there, he's just simply not ready to win the chess match yet.King Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 1:23 pm
Miller for sure. Dean looks unlikely to play. JPP I'm worried about as well.
So what happened? The same thing that happens damn near every single year. Tryon displayed 1 quality trait in a preseason game against guys trying to find jobs and people fell in love. Expectations went through the roof. All of a sudden overnight Tryon went from a future potential replacement for JPP to a guy with “#1 overall type twitch”……”hard to see him not contributing this year”………”He’s so dynamic and explosive”. People oursmarted themselves when it came to him. The work everyone knew he still had to do was pushed to the side. Yes, he has talent. But right now he’s way more athlete than he is football player. He has great motor, great abilities yet no discipline. He’s a mess technically. He doesn’t use his hands worth a damn and washes himself out of plays.
So it’s back to April and those expectations. He’s a guy that needs work and should be allowed time to get it together. The preseason was almost a negative for him in that the Bengals game out unrealistic outlandish expectations on him. Give the kid time.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Well Bootz, if our three big guys on defense could be known for more than just run defense. Pretty sure these guys know when its a pass - most of the time. Most.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Something to ponder on.
First three games last year - 28.5 TFL's
The three this year - 7 TFL's
2-1 record both years.
Do we want it!

For the record.
108.5 TFL's in 2020

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
The Saints ran it. Carolina tried. Denver didn’t. 72 rushes in the first 3 games in 2020.
62 in 3 games this year. Including QBs. Most of those being LA in the second half. Sony Michel had 20 carries for 67 yards.
Teams aren’t even trying to establish the run. They’re smart not to.
I don’t think TFL’s are indicative of how much this team “wants it.”

It's frustrating seeing a talented player who is close to being able to make plays, but can't quite get it done yet.
I didn't say it was unexpected. I didn't say it was shocking. I didn't say we didn't see it coming based on his college career or draft program. Yes, sane people are excited about his traits. No, reasonable people did not see him being forced into action in September and dominating. Nobody said that. And as far as contributing? He is. Despite his issues, he's playing better than Cam Gill or whoever would be.
Egads. Calm down.

So, bringing in vet CB's, do we see experience or confusion?

Eveb if we sign Sherman today, can he really be that much of a factor?
Scary game vs the Patriots. We absolutely should win easily but this Bucs team is suspect at best right now.

Try 8-12 weeks. If @Snake is right, it would seem he is honestly, JPP must be opting for the rehab approach as opposed to the surgery approach, which would most certainly end his season.

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Jaime Collins was just released *shrug*
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
I’m more optimistic about the timeline. If that is indeed what’s going on. The same way I was optimistic about the Colts foot surgeries. Around the clock treatment availability helps. PEDs help. The problem with AC joints is you can’t “pro athlete work ethic” rush the treatment process like a ligament tear where athletes come back in 1/2 the time of a normal person. It’s basically rest and basic range of motion exercises until it tightens back up (IF it does). So, optimistic, but not superhuman optimism.LUGZ wrote: ↑Wed Sep 29, 2021 11:20 amWell, that's fucked. If that's true, and we're without JPP for basically the whole season save for maybe a playoff appearance, do we need to make a move for an edge rusher?

I've noticed fake JB can post much more now, even in Singapore.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Hopefully JPP can return this season. He can rest/rehab the next 2 months if needed and hopefully return in December for the stretch run to give our pass rush some juice.
But as long as Tryon and Shaq stay healthy, I'm fine rolling with those 2 as the EDGE guys. Tryon getting reps is a good thing, it should flatten the learning curve so that he's a more effective player come Dec-Jan.

Doesn't sound like Sherman is going to play this game. We'll see. Also Dean practiced today so that's good news.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Given what we are hearing on the injury front I am still leaning towards a Patriots victory and mass panic in the Tampa area on Monday morning.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
We need to not see this type of play.

Devin has been an absolute disaster so far. He needs to step up.

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
As much as I love him, his splashes are part of why most of us believe he's better than he probably is. At his core, he's still very undisciplined. He doesn't have a natural feel for the game nor does he have even average instincts. He's a freak athlete who relies on his 4.4 speed to get the job done. I was hoping to see a continuation of his playoff performance but it has yet to materialize.

Can you imagine if we could take Antoine Winfield Junior's instincts and pair them with Devin White's atheltic ability?

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Eh, Devin is still really young. He's pretty good for only having played LB for like 4 or 5 years. I'll start getting worried if he's making the same mistakes on a consistent basis in a year or two.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
The negative Nancys are back with their Devin White slander I see.
I guess the crow was so delicious from a last offseason that people are ready for more.

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
What crow is that? Allowing 90% completion percentage in coverage and missed tackles?

Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Devin White is so terrible, that opposing QBs get bulges in their pants when they see he's on the field.
Re: Buccaneers @ Patriots Discussion
Well, can you really blame them?
Devin White has two excellent qualities; incredible speed for his position and a knack for making big plays. While he has maintained the former, the latter just haven't happened yet.
Don't get me wrong, White has been playing decent ball, but the expectations with him have risen, at least for me. Decent ball just doesn't cut it anymore. I expect to see Devin White the All-Pro talent who makes game changing plays, not Devin White the guy still trying to figure it out.
