2022 Outlook: Suh, Gholston, O'Connor and McLendon are all free agents this offseason. The former two are responsible for a huge chunk of production from this unit and the Bucs would do well to retain at least one of those players. Gholston is the second-longest-tenured Buccaneer behind Lavonte David and has become a staple in the Tampa Bay community. O'Connor also pulls double duty as a special teams' staple.
Vea just recently signed a contract extension that keeps him a Buc through 2027. Nuñez-Roches' contract goes through 2023 and both Smith and Prevlion are signed to reserve/futures contracts.

From the Bucs page. Defensive line
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Gholston has been an underrated piece of this team for years. His lack of sack numbers will keep his market from being too big, but he's a 30 year old SB champ. Suh would probably do another $10M 1 year and I'd be down. I don't know if he's trying to chase one last check or ring or just retire. McLendon has been solid for us at times and should stay cheap.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Two things - Gholston wants to retire a Buc and then there are a bunch of no future signs everywhere. And it is also the group that cannot pressure the QB enough to get us off the field and give the ball back to the offense.Doctor wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:15 pm Gholston has been an underrated piece of this team for years. Even if we do, we let teams eat up gobs of clock.
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Our DT sacks were the QB running into the waiting spider sacks - we need much more than that.
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
If we re-sign Gholston and he stays healthy, he'll pass Warren Sapp next year to move into 10th all time in Bucs games played, just behind A-Train.Doctor wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 9:15 pm Gholston has been an underrated piece of this team for years. Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I'd love to bring him back. Got to think there is a real risk of at least one team willing to out bid us easy. If so, I wish him the best. If not, better for us.

Hard pass on Suh for 10M

Rodgers announcement coming soon?
Check out Pat McAfee this Tuesday!

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I didn't realize Nacho was under contract. That is good news.
Gholston is a great fit for this defense. It's been by far his best situation as a player for the Bucs.
His age really doesn't bother me because he's not a speed guy. 30yrs old for a power player like Gholston is right in his prime imo.
I'd pay Gholston.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
It's often said that the NFL is a copycat league. With the last 2 SB winners having won with a transplanted, upper-tier QB (Bucs/Brady & Rams/Stafford), I can only imagine the mad scramble that will happen if Rodgers and/or Wilson become available. Every team that thinks they're on the cusp of an SB run will be stepping over each other to land them. Could be fun to watch.

Smart signing by the Bengals. Licht has always been great at drafting OL. It’s time to shine again.

Aren't we still 2 weeks out from free agency?

Says 3 Years 39 million? If true... we can't touch that. That is about 9 million over market.

It checks all the right boxes, to be sure.
Sign Gronk and really get things going.

Arians says JPP and Suh have both told him they want to play football again this year.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Would they? Only team I'd think would be real threat would be Miami.
I mean at the twilight of their careers they are looking at maybe $8M a year, $10M tops. Neither are even 70%+ snap count guys anymore either. Unless someone surprisingly overbids over market value, I think we easily win out given they are already here and the whole FL no income tax thing.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I’d take Suh back at the right price. JPP looked about done last season. He can go.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
First, they can't tamper with Jensen, so if this is correct then they will definitely lose draft picks. Second, Licht said Jensen is a priority re-sign.Digital_Damage wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 2:37 pmSays 3 Years 39 million? If true... we can't touch that. That is about 9 million over market.
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
You're right, but if you think nobody is tampering right now, I don't know what to tell you. Remember when Mike Wallace basically announced he had a huge free agency contract with the Dolphins worked out while the Steelers were still playing? This kind of tampering (pre-free agency) is barely investigated by the league.kaimaru wrote: ↑Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:04 pmFirst, they can't tamper with Jensen, so if this is correct then they will definitely lose draft picks. Second, Jensen might be a priority for Licht, but there's no way we should be trying to match a deal like that for anyone but Godwin or Davis. If someone wants to give him $13 mil APY, he'll be missed.

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
When do we get our 6th rounder for losing Cody Grimm? 5th? Dallas would get a 3rd for waterboy.
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Why would we get a pick for losing Grimm?

Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
I don't think we get a pick for that, unless he's a minority, and even then I'm not 100% sure. Maybe someone can clear this up? I dunno.

Ohh to have a magic wand for more (even) late round draft picks.
Re: 2022 Offseason Thread
Imagine having a plethora of tradeable defensive linemen. Or anyone for that matter.
