Johnson and Graham are both projected top 10 picks this year. We won't touch either unfortunatelyCheb wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:15 pmI would declare if I were them.
Both Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham are excellent defensive tackles. I think Graham is a top ten pick, Grant somewhere in the first round.
Graham is good at everything. Excellent contact balance, great strength and leverage, fundamentally sound as a run stopper, surprisingly good as a pass rusher. He also is more versatile than Grant is and would have a home in any defense in the league.
I like Kenneth Grant, but I think he's more strictly a nose player as a pro. Dude's a beast, but a beast with a smaller toolbox.
Given my pick between the two of them, I would pick Graham. Given my pick of any current Michigan defender, I would take Will Johnson and not look back. Dude has Pro Bowl cornerback written all over him.

Him? Nothing. I don't really follow college football, but judging by people who do, they all seem to agree that he's going to be great.
What I find funny is your stance. We have Chris Godwin who was on pace to have a Top 5 season among WR's, before his injury. You're evidently ok with replacing a Top 5 talent for a rookie, but you weren't wiling to trade up for a rookie last year to replace a mediocre QB who we gave a $100M contract too instead.

Don’t be dumb Any quarterback this high in the draft is a gamble. How do you know any of the quarterbacks you drafted are truly exceptional? At that time, Baker Mayfield was the best option. He deserves that contract, regardless of your opinion. What does Godwin have to do what I said?
.
Besides that, this isn’t the point here. You’re completely off track. . We need to draft defense, and we need a cornerback. Travis Hunter is that guy

Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
People I've talked to seem and have heard, seem to believe Hunter will be used more as a WR, and occasionally as a CB because apparently Hunter as said as much... that he wants to be a WR. Now, maybe that's not the case, but that's what I was basing my comment on in regards to Godwin. If Hunter is to be used as a WR, then you can't re-sign Godwin because it makes no sense to do so.Phantom wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:47 pmCannonFire wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2024 1:25 pm

I think every pick, regardless of position is a gamble. I think it's dumb to think otherwise. I believe every NFL team believes that as well, that's why they jump up to take QB's. If the gamble pays off, they win big time... if it doesn't, in 3 years, you try again. I don't of any player, regardless of position is truly exceptional, and neither does anyone else. There have been players taken in the top 3 of almost every position that never panned out, so to target only QB's would be disingenuous at best.
Baker being the best option is an opinion, it's not fact.
I think we need defense too, but I think that unless you have a good pass rush, your secondary will get beat over time. We're also going to be picking in the mid to low 20's. Do you know what the cost would be to get into the Top 3 would be? We're already struggling with the cap and you want to basically throw away virtually every key draft pick we have for the next 2 years for 1 guy who wants to play WR that you want to force to play CB.
I think it's fair that with my very last paragraph on it's own, your statement "Don't be dumb", is one I should be saying to you.

Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
Could you? Maybe. Would it be smart? Probably not.
I would prefer that we got an inside linebacker who wouldn't be totally lost in space as a pass defender. LVD is ancient and Britt ain't it.

Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
Jackson Woodard is the coverage LB I was looking at but he isnt loaded into the sims yet.
Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
Is there anyone even close to put on LVD's cleats.
Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
I mean, those shoes probably belong in the Hall of Fame, so they are hard to fill.
Watching this Michigan bowl game, Jihaad Campbell, linebacker out of Alabama, looks pretty good. A prospect to watch as a second rounder, I'd wager.

I was watching that game for him as well, and saw he got injured early. Don't think it was serious, but he was done after that I believe. He's a pretty obviously target for us in the expected late first. I imagine we'll see him mocked often.

For those who know how to get to the draft forum, which DL player in this draft would fit the best with Vea?

Needs aren't for the draft. Licht should've filled needs with FA.
Draft is for BPA.

It’s also pretty arbitrary because nobody actually knows who the best players are going to be.
You blend your draft board with your needs. Then take the best player available at a position of need.

True as this is, we all know that whoever we draft in the 1st round will be written in stone as a starter almost immediately. Depending on who's taken 2nd, they might be as well.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Mar 20, 2025 9:55 pm Needs aren't for the draft. Licht should've filled needs with FA.

Yep! Wouldnt mind a IDL like that too. It will make my day if I ever hear "hey fatboy want some more mash tata's and gravy" on a national broadcast.
Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
Strictly defense, how many position picks is too many?
Even if it's crazy to pass on how many
DT's - Harmon/Grant
Edge - Green/L Jackson/Elijah Williams
LB -
CB - Zah Frazier
S -
I ask because Jason Licht says we can go in so many different directions. I agree but when we do prospects vanish before we can pick them.
I traded down because I wanted Mike Green and another 2nd so I could pick Darien Porter and a DT.
Harmon was sitting there unpicked in the 2nd and Grant was sitting there unpicked in the 3rd.
Porter got picked and I'm like ok so now what - it is easiest to pick DT or edge at that point.
Porter was the 9th CB
Prolly 3 go before we pick in the first round, so that means we would have to pick Porter first to get him.
Might be the same situation with the safety position.
Lost our 7th in the trade back for Green, wouldnt give me that 2nd unless I did.
I have totally avoided offense so I guess Licht could target o-line for training school.

Re: 2025 Bucs Draft Needs
I don’t think Mike Green or James Pearce are going to be on our board. We just don’t draft guys with character red flags.
