Ichabod's Monday Analysis: Week 13

Post by IchabodCrane84 »

My favorite week, Falcon Week. We got hundred-yard receivers, two tuddie receptions, five sacks, defense gets stout after giving up ten. It could’ve been better, but we haven’t lost to the Dirty Birds in 2 years and I am thrilled about that. If you want Ichabod IRL click on the spoiler tag.
► Show Spoiler
Likes:
1.) Classic Chris Godwin game. Racks up the yards, but always gets tackled short of the endzone.
2.) Anyone want to take the bet that Vita Vea ends up with more sacks than teeth this year?
3.) Suh has five times the amount of sacks than Geral McCoy this season. I know, it’s not a fair comparison. We play in a 3-4 defense now.
4.) Pierre Deseriously needed that turnover.
5.) Brady and Gronk hooking up more times than… Well, lets just say Wilt’s seat is getting a little warm.
6.) Leonard Fournette is playing so well that Ronald Jones faked Covid to get himself out of the game. “Coach, I got a slight cough. I should probably leave.”

Dislikes:
1.) Our defense defending a 3rd and long attempt is like watching a movie about playing cards. Casino Royale, or Rounders, or 21, you know it’s always going to come down to an intense final hand and the main character is going to have some ridiculous luck and get the rare royal flush. You know it’s impossible, but you also expect it to happen.
2.) Another genre of movie that can explain Scotty Miller’s absence is the horror movie in which the main characters don’t yet know they’re in a horror movie. Anyone seen Scotty? Oh, he got up in the middle of the night and caught the train home and didn’t tell anyone. But, he left a note see? I’d text him, but our phones don’t get reception out here. Also, the natives invited us to a feast they have once every 24 years. What luck we have!
3.) Let’s just stick with the movie themes. In the Rock Sean Connery throws a knife through someone’s head and tells Nic Cage to never hesitate. I think that’s the film Gio Bernard should study this week.
4.) Bruce Arians pulls a Chase Young and mouths off about how no one can run on us.
5.) That Pick Six was bad. Most Buc fans handled it well though. I attribute it to the last Pick Six Atlanta had against us where we didn’t even get a chance to twist the lid off our beers in overtime before the game was over.

Random:
1.) Is it really necessary to mention it’s someone’s first year coaching a team and then throw up a graphic showing his win/loss record?
2.) Thank you to the Mods for driving ATrain down to the comments section in Yahoo Finance. He is now with his people.
3.) If I could get serious for a minute. It’s an important time in America right now. Corporations like BlackRock are swooping in and buying up all these houses. There is legitimate concern that these corporations are driving up the housing prices and we will become a nation of renters. But, private citizens are fighting back. Even though we’ve lost a ton of homes, one corporation has lost more. The Atlanta Falcons.

Bit of read this week, I know. Took some time setting up some mediocre jokes, but in the end it’s all the same. We have a commanding lead in the division and I really can’t remember a time where we weren’t fighting for positioning. I guess we fight it out amongst the division leaders, but with no games against them we just have to win and hope they lose. Back to Tampa to face the Bills.

Nice write up. I look forward to reading these every Monday morning. Helps me start my week with a bang.

With the games that are left, the only ones that worry me are the Bills and the Saints. The rest should be gimmies but with this defense, you never can tell.

Suh played like his Uber driver showed him my sim where we drafted 5 d-linemen.

Tampa threw everyone at Russell Gage and he shamed them all. For that reason the new guys get a smidge of slack.

Because it was the nail that helped lead to this coffin...

Hey #6 Dislike brought us Tom.

That play is getting a lot of hate, but man what a play by that Dlineman. He read, reacted, performed. It was a thing of beauty. Poetry for the big man. Sometimes a guy makes a play, that play had been killing the Falcons all day(Lenny had like 6 catches going into that play).

And LugzTrain’s meltdown being brought on by BiBL is the best contribution to the board she’s made since she created the meme thread and made you all forget OT existed.

It's good to see an actual WR now owns the Bucs franchise record for catches in a game when Godwin broke the previous record of 13 that was shared by Earest Graham and James Wilder

Just great as always! It's always nice to read your write ups, but especially after a division win to get to 9-3!

Besides Al Michaels, Kenny Albert is my favorite play-by-play guy.

He was rooting so hard against the Bucs. Thought it was kinda weird.

When it's a mismatch the announcers tend to want the game to be close which makes it seem like they are cheering for the underdog.

You could tell Vilma knew the Falcons had no shot, he kept acting surprised every time they did something positive.

I like Chris Myers as a play-by-play guy. I like Greg Gumbel as well.

It's funny that I watch a game and things stand out to me as "stuff Ich might mention tomorrow," but the announcers discussing Brady and food were certainly one of them.

They followed an Uber Eats commercial with a discussion of Brady ordering out for unsalted tofu, then capped that off with a reference to it being his daughter's birthday, so Brady must put a piece of birthday cake in his mouth for just a second before spitting it out.

It got weird in a hurry.

As always, I enjoyed the Read. I was at Top Golf in Ft Myers watching the game. It was my turn to hit golf balls and when I was done the Falcons scored on the pick six. Oddly enough I had just hit a ball that counted for 6 points on my score. I didn't hit a ball the rest of the game.....Random things I saw:

1. Are we sending out 10 guys on extra point kicks? Why does it always look like our Extra Point is about to get blocked from the edge?
2. Mike Evans catches the ball and immediately goes down. Mike Evans doesn't catch the ball and pulls up like he's hurt. I'm going to nickname #13 Possum
3. Bruce Arians - Shut the @#$% up during press conferences and can our reporters please stop asking Tom and Gronk their secrets. Geez. Oh, and Suh could care less about the Lions victory. Idiots.......
