Outside of the Coach incident and them losing like 6 top players to other programs.

Breaking news!!

College football decided on 12 teams playoff
The College Football Playoff's Board of Managers voted on Friday to expand the CFP to 12 teams in 2026, but is encouraging the sport's commissioners to try to implement it as soon as 2024, multiple sources told ESPN.

The 11 presidents and chancellors who comprise the CFP's Board of Managers approved the original 12-team model, which is the six highest-ranked conference champions, and six at-large teams.

The 10 FBS commissioners and Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick will meet next week in Dallas to figure out the details.

An FBS commissioner told ESPN, "We have work to do, but will try and make it happen soon."

This is retarded (soft r) for all reasons except money. and if money is the only goal, why not make it more teams than 12?

I get the argument that now 8 other teams can recruit and pitch the idea of competing in the playoff now. but is this really gonna unseat the inner-circle dominance of Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia and a couple other programs who will most benefit from NIL?

It seems like there are generally 1-2 teams that are a cut above the others in the CFP every year. and one of the four is notable weaker. I can't wait to see Bama beat NC State by 60 points just to make a point.

It’s doesn’t matter. At least Cinderella teams have a chance to play for the championship… this is good news for any group of 5 or whatever you call it

are they really Cinderella if there are 8 of them?

and I'm guessing that 8-4 B1G/SEC teams get in over almost all G5 teams.

I think it let's the little guy in (or at least gives 'em a chance). NIL is a different topic, so I am not going to bring that in (but get you). I think 12 super mega conferences is next .. and we get conference champions .. that I believe is the answer .. then we dont deal with SEC or any other conference dominance (or boring us whichever).

This is why I wanted Liberty in a conference. We'll see

12 is crazy, especially given what is going on with the conferences right now. We went from too little to too many.

I've been advocating for expanded playoffs forever, but I'm not sure if tripling it up to 12 is the way to go. That seems excessive.

But hey, more (presumably) good football to watch, and the Cinderella teams who could make a case for themselves get a chance to put up or shut up.

Edit:

Now that I've had a decent think on it, maybe 12 teams isn't bad. The top four seeded teams get a first round bye, the second group of four host home playoff games, and the last group of four has to go on the road?

Why shouldn’t it be four? Haven’t the CFBP champions thus far been pretty clearly the best teams?

Glad for it to be gameday. It's like Christmas in September.

All I want from this Michigan vs Colorado State game is smooth execution and something we can build on. But two drops on the opening drive isn't helping that.

And apparently RG3 is doing the color commentary? Well that's kinda fun. Hope he's good.

Early games are just ok. Blue has the game in hand cause CSU defense getting tired. App State laying it on early to UNC. And ECU and NC State haven’t brawled yet.

Mack Brown has been a failure at UNC. They’re getting smacked by Appalachian State. Regardless of this game’s outcome, their recruiting hasn’t been followed with good results. Ridiculous.

I have never seen any team destroy Oregon like Georgia did.

There’s rumors that Oregon is planning on to join the Big Ten conference
