I'm not mad.

Michigan won the conference, beat Ohio State, and had an undefeated regular season. We lost a close one-score game despite multiple fuckups to a surprisingly good team.

Did the season end in a Natty? No. Would I have liked it to, of course. But a top four finish and checking every regular season box is a win.

If Ohio State beats Georgia, whatever. I just hope TCU beats the piss out of whatever team wins this game right now (though I'm not sure they will).

Boo. That sounds like the talk of a fan base that is just happy to have somebody notice them.

Herm Edwards would have your ass. YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!

Image
You do play to win the game. Michigan has won a lot of them, 25-3 over the past two seasons, and I'm quite pleased that my alma mater is kicking that much ass.

That said, I don't get upset if we don't win every game. College football is not an all-or-nothing proposition, nor is life. You have got to stay humble with wins and keep your head up with losses. Those who lose that even keel are those destined for ultimate failure. I've had better coaches than Herm Edwards tell me as such.

Certainly. You cannot think you will win everything. But you cannot also pretend to be pleased about it with an awww shucks attitude.

If you're not mad, if you don't have that passion, you're going to be saying aww shucks next year, too. I bet your "better than Herm" coach gave you that speech after a loss. Tell me I'm wrong.

I said this a few weeks ago…Notre Dame and Michigan have a ton in common. They are good enough to get to the playoffs but not good enough to get to that next level. And to do that both teams need that superior qb. McCarthy isn’t it just like Ian Book wasn’t it a few years back. Both good defenses..solid running games but can’t win that big game to crack that next level.

Lacking those five star and high four star athletes. There is a talent deficiency going on compared to the Georgias of the world.

Anything can happen on a given Saturday, but the law of averages works against them.

I would say that I'm an above average enthusiast for Michigan football.

But this ain't the pros, where the Bengals can go from the number 1 overall pick and then the Superbowl the next season. So much of building a great program is about year-to-year momentum, of building your culture and recruiting guys that fit your scheme, of stacking together smaller goals for your program. Win your conference, beat your rivals. Sometimes just playing consistent ball that's not actively embarrassing is a worthy goal.

124 D-1 college football teams a year don't win a national championship, but alot of them can say that they had pretty damn good years. Michigan had a pretty damn good year, and I'm not going to let a close loss at the end of it rain on that parade.

I’m just disappointed at the possibility of an Ohio State/Michigan national championship being finished.

Would have been one for the ages.

Fair enough, I'm throwing in the towel on this conversation. I get where you're coming from. How about we both just watch Ohio State lose?

Only way OSU wins is if their o-line holds up like that in the second half.

I would love to see TCU beat Ohio St, but I think Stroud gonna slice them up. They won’t make the mistakes on offense that Michigan made. Hope I’m wrong though bc I hate OSU.
