For fucks sake Licht!!!

You pass on Wyatt to draft an undersized DT early on and now you blow a fourth rounder on a PUNTER when there are plenty of DBs with day one talent still on the board??

Either you've been drinking more than you usually do or you're trying to get yourself fired!!! IMO, your drunk ass should've been shit canned a long fucking time ago!!

He's our best drafting GM since Rich McKay.

Because he had three total offers and the Bucs had the best roster.

I think he’s done a better job than a majority of GMs in the league. The draft is a crapshoot and you never hit on everything but he’s drafted several Pro Bowlers and guys who have given us quality snaps. Mike Evans was the best first round pick for this franchise since the Sapp/Brooks draft. Godwin is one of the best value picks in franchise history. He drafted a 1st team All Pro tackle.

Definitely has some big mistakes, Aguayo was an all time mistake. The 2016 draft in general was terrible, but look around the league and very few teams are putting out better results. Especially when you compare Licht’s work to that of Mark Dominik or Bruce Allen. Allen and Gruden in general did a laughable job drafting. Dominik gave us Lavonte, McCoy and Gholston but busts galore otherwise.

Credit you have to give to Licht, is how he saved his job after 2017. Yes, we signed the Goat in 2020, but Licht pretty much rebuilt the roster from 2018 on after how he failed in his early years. Brady absolutely does not come here if the roster is in a similar state to 2017 or before.

Between 3rd Round of the 2017 draft and the 2020 draft, Licht has drafted:

- Chris Godwin
- Vita Vea
- Ronald Jones
- Carlton Davis
- Alex Cappa
- Jordan Whitehead
- Devin White
- Sean Murphy-Bunting
- Jamel Dean
- Mike Edwards
- Anthony Nelson
- Scotty Miller
- Tristan Wirfs
- Antoine Winfield Jr

Literally all these players were either major or minor contributors to a Superbowl Champion.

The 2021 draft, the jury is out. But my point is, relax.

That’s not saying much.

Last year’s draft class wasn’t meant to contribute in their rookie year. Many felt that would be the case this year as well but it’s clearly the opposite. A lot of these guys will be expected to contribute from day 1. Problem is most of them don’t have high ceilings.

I don’t think the jury is out for the 2021 class. It’s not good. JTS is basically the only guy with a shot to start this year and he hasn’t earned it. Trask is likely going to be a healthy scratch for 17 games again. Hainsey was supposedly heir apparent to Jensen but now Jensen has as many years left on his deal as Hainsey has. Darden looked like crap. Britt is behind LVD & White and is not very talented. Wilcox is in Indy. Stuard at best is a ST type. It doesn’t project to be a very good class.

I don't think that issue is as big as you think. None of these guys will make or break this team this year.

Nonsense.

The only guy who was clearly a mistake was Wilcox, since he didn't make the team. All the other picks did. JTS showed enough that we let the guy in front of him leave and didn't bring in any competition. The only thing we know about Trask is, he has yet to beat out Tom Brady. Nobody is clear on what Hainsey's ultimate position is, and frankly, if he can provide quality depth at multiple positions as a very late 3rd, I'd be fine with that. Darden faced a brutal learning curve coming from North Texas and still got some snaps. Britt is almost certainly moving into the top backup role behind White and LVD, and we didn't add anyone else to develop into the starting role if this is LVD's last year. Stuard was a special teams stud as Mr. Irrelevant.

I'm sorry if there wasn't enough juice added for your Madden Ultimate Team or whatever, dude. But last year's draft added 6 guys who made the defending Superbowl Champion roster, 5 of whom contributed in some way as rookies. It's a shame our instant gratification society as ruined the critical thinking abilities for so many.

No we don't need juice added for the Madden team. We had plenty of holes on the roster as it stood. I knew 95% of fans would be fooled by what Brady contributed to this team but I didn't think you'd be in that 95%.

What exactly did JTS show besides bad run fits, undisciplined and quite frankly unproductive run plans? The other thing we know about Trask is he has yet to beat out Blaine Gabbert either. If Hainsey can give us another 66 snaps, I suppose that's a win. Darden got snaps out of necessity due to the numerous injuries at WR. Just like Pierre Desir, Richard Sherman, Rashard Robinson, Dee Delaney and Ross Cockrell got snaps at corner. That's not saying much at all. Britt, Stuard, you're not saying anything of significance there either.

You put way too much stock into them making the team for the defending Superbowl champions as if making a championship team is somehow harder than making another. That's what makes the NFL different, the fluidity. Players come and players go. You of all people know this. Being drafted you should be expected to make the roster. Your contract is cheap and the team made an investment in you.

Putting it out there like that really emphasizes how good Licht has been at drafting players outside of his 'hold my beer' style moves. Every single one of those players is a significant contributor every season and outside of Nelson, Edwards, and Miller every single one of them has been at least an above average starter at their position at one point or another. The only ones who are inconsistent in that regard are Jones, Dean, White, and SMB.

Wirfs, Winfield Jr, Davis, Vea, and Godwin are legit stars.

And that's in just a 4 year period.

Along with this, Licht has shown the ability to understand when a player is going to command more salary than they're worth and let them walk as we saw this season with Cappa and Whitehead.

It's only a crapshoot when you pick and choose instances in which concensus was wrong. For the most part, guys are who they are. By the logic you're using here, the fact that players like Myles Garrett, Patrick Mahomes, Mike Evans, Joe Burrow, Tristan Wirfs have become the stars their draft status indicated they would become they are moreso exceptions while finding diamonds in the rough like Brady or Cheetah is the rule.

Using the 2018 draft class who had their options exercised last year, 22 of the 31 were exercised. The only exception not includes is the Raiders Kolton Miller, who signed a 3 year extension before the deadline to exercise the option. 71% of the options were exercised. Already this year ahead of the deadline this week, 17 of 23 have been exercised(74%).

You can go back further if you'd like to but I'd venture to guess that more often than not 5th year options are exercised.
