Tiger looks to be in great shape. I don't know what that's like for golf shape, but he's certainly in shape.

Tiger is truly a transcendent figure. His is arguably bigger than the sport itself. This was his following from a practice round on Monday.

PRACTICE! (queue Allen Iverson meme)

He's been walking his home course in Jupiter recently to get used to walking 18 holes.

Augusta has much more undulation than Florida courses and walking 72 over 4 days is what he trying to see if he can handle.

He's supposed to be speaking to the media at 11am, hopefully to validate he's playing this week. It sure seems like he will be. fingers crossed.

Caesars Sportsbook is offering an odds boost:

Tiger to win the masters and the Bucs to win the Super Bowl +50000 (bet $1 to win $500)

I had a $5 free bet expiring soon, so why not?

Have any of you walked a course before? I'm just curious on your take as to how that effects you, but then again, if you did walk, I doubt you had a caddy toting your bag. But also, I doubt you had the Masters pushing you to keep moving.

I've never been to Augusta to walk it but have always heard it is one of the more taxing ones to walk because of the elevation changes.

I always wanted to go there and see it in person. Augusta and Pebble are really the only US courses I truly want to see in person

One day .. My father had the luxury of playing there, and nothing would complete me more just to walk around (in spring time).

Par after 3. Worried more about walking the terrain than striking that little fucking ball into a gopher hole.

Oh and newsflash, no one cares about your punk son.

Oh, I hope he wins by 10+ strokes. Just because of the excessive amounts of panties it would bunch.

I also hope his son become Daly 2.0, hitting the tee box with a cigarette in his mouth and a red solo cup on standby.

Walking 18 holes is roughly 5 miles, so for someone coming off an injury it's mostly a matter of endurance and recovery as you go into days 2, 3, and 4.

Tiger has been walking 18 at his home course in Jupiter so other than the increased undulations with Augusta compared to flatter Florida courses he knows he can walk 18.

But can he do it 4 days in a row without it affecting that right leg?

You're correct that the pace of play in a PGA tournament is very slow. I normally finish a round walking in 4.5 hours whereas a PGA tournament round is closer to 6 hours.

when I lived in IL I would walk all the time.. and more times than not carry my bag.. pull cart rentals was an extra ~$15 or so.

walked a few time in FL when covid was crazy since all of the carts were single riders, so many times there weren't enough carts..

my experience is/was, that IL courses aren't that bad because for the most part the greens and next tee box were right next to each other. probably due to space limitations, but I found the courses to be much more compacted. In FL, the courses seem to be much more spread out, so the walk from green to the next tee box is typically more of a walk... just a lot of additional walking.

Personally I like walking the course. I seem to be in rhythm more opposed to sitting down, driving to ball and then hitting.

worst experience 'walking' was probably in CO. It was cart path only and I never hit it on the cart-path-side of the fairway. By the time I got to my ball I had to take a moment to compose myself and get my breath.

I should clarify: In team sports, I have a team I root for. But I don't have a golf "team." I don't care who wins, I just want to see good and entertaining golf.

Tiger wrecking the Masters is that.

I'm thinkin' we see the red shirt on Sunday. Tomorrow is the larger test, as we can see how he recovered from the walk. He looked sore at first, but seemed to warm up.

I thought watching the Masters coverage on the Golf Channel (which is given when searching for Masters), that you'd actually get to see players, well, golfing. I would never have suspected it would be hours of Mike Trico and three or four other talking heads, blathering on and on. Who'd a thunk it?

I'm sure you would be heart broken.

the fact that he's even able to play is a win for the whole sport
