He could actually do really well there. Feel free to bump this when he throws 3 picks in his first game.

Wherever Baker goes, his limitations need understood by everyone involved. He also needs to reign himself in. Not athletic enough to run around like he does and take bad sacks.

So when all is said and done, the Colts upgrade at QB and net an extra third round pick. Brilliant GMing!!!!

The Falcons eat $40.5 million dead cap hit by trading him to the Colts, the largest singular dead cap space hit in NFL history.

Great trade by the Colts, and it must feel good for Ryan to go to a strong team that actually wants him to play for them.

Falcons preparing to get in position for Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud. They should completely tank. Sniffing around Mariota for some reason though.

I’ll admit I am prone to optimism in these times when these players are getting moved around. I assume the coaches are going to coach better, I assume the players will fix their flaws they’ve had for 20+ years lol

Looks like Mariota, but Baker would be a better choice IMO. I wonder where Baker lands. Saints?

Pure honestly is a good look 😂. You’re so right on this. This is why free agency and the draft are so fun.

Yep.

He's been trash for most of his career. But now that he's been traded to another team, he's bound to do better. lol

Ryan has never been "trash." He's also never been worthy of a cold call commercial. He's a damn good QB - not elite, but damn good - and as of today, these things can all coexist:

The Colts stole him. Stole.
The Falcons are eating a crap sandwich of a cap hit, so hooray future for us hating them.
The Falcons just got worse for this year, which is potentially our last Brady year.
The South just got easier for this year, etc...

Hold on, now. Isn't McKay still president of operations or some such silly title? I knew he'd eventually figure out how to fuck up another team's cap situation.

All this did was make the Bucs' path to the NFCS title that much easier (it was already pretty damn well plotted), and the AFC playoff situation that much murkier. I mean, the entire AFCW might finish above .500, and the runner up in the AFCN might just win 13 games. Where's the 6 and 7 seed coming from? If KC wins the AFCW, pick one (or two) of LV, LAC and DEN, or can Bill Belichick outsmart his contemporaries into a 7th seed (assuming BUF wins the AFCE). Last, we have the AFCS. Tennessee is good, but Tannehill is still their QB. Does Wentz push IND into the conversation? Probably not, but he might just shove MIA out of any contention.

Random thoughts, yada yada.

Depends if we still got a can't get a quarterback on the ground defense.

Is that worse than a can't cover anyone in the stadium defense?

Ryan has had a few MONSTER games against us through the air.....

I don't think Mary will do that although he may occasionally scramble for 50 yards or so.

That's the lesser of 2 poisons IMO.

Yes, Ryan is clearly an upgrade over Mary.

Great trade for the colts. Trying to pull off a manning bronco year. It's possible.

While it looks like things got easier, the NFL is full of surprises.

Ryan is no Peyton Manning, but the colts do now have a great shot at the division title.

Colts v Titans should be good games.

But he's on a new team in a new city. Certainly his flaws will be cured in the same way Ryan's will, right?

I wouldn't argue with those, but I'd add some:

- The Falcons did right by Matt Ryan. They took their swing at Watson, missed, and still shipped Ryan out to a playoff caliber team. Even though he didn't make an ass out of himself like Mayfield, they still recognized the situation for what it was.
- They were never going to get "value" for him with his contract. Getting a Day Two pick isn't bad.
- But it's still a great get for the Colts, who now have the luxury of growing a pup while contending in the AFC South next year.
- Speaking of which, Mariota's 2 year, low-end starter/expensive backup money means the Falcons can target a QB in this draft, or wait a year. It's a luxury they didn't have with Ryan and his contract.
- The Falcons leaning hard into the rebuild should be fun to watch for a few years.

Just pointing out that in the last decade not many of our DT/DE can even get fifty tackles.

So the opposing starting QBs in the NFCS are;

Jamiss
Mariotta
Darnold

None of which were their teams 1st option this offseason.
