I'm sure they players will use 4/15 as a "special date" and play that route through the media, but neither side REALLY cares about that date, IMO.

• Players will wear advertisements on Jerseys

• 12 team post season

• A 45-day window for MLB to implement rules changes -- among them a pitch clock, ban on shifts and larger bases in the 2023 season

• The National League adopting the designated hitter

• A draft lottery implemented with the intent of discouraging tanking

• Draft-pick inducements to discourage service-time manipulation

• Limiting the number of times a player can be optioned to the minor leagues in one season

and all the money stuff.

I didn't really follow the specifics of this lockout. Most of this seems fair and beneficial to both sides. Do you know what the hangups were?

The amount of money players get and I believe the additional teams in the post season.

The biggest ones were to stop tanking, stop service time manipulation and constant player optioning during the year, increase to min salary plus pre-arb / arbitration / free agent timeline changes, and changes to the "luxury tax". Then mlb said they were going to make the international market go through a draft and held that hostage for more leverage.

I, too, will longingly stare at the box score yearning for the days of "0-3, 2 K, GIDP" from the 9 spot. And think of the poor 2B who was having a perfectly fine game, but made the last out in the 7th and is now being replaced with someone not nearly as good with the glove or the bat all in the name of a double switch. Now he'll have to play the whole game.

If pitchers took more than zero at bats anywhere between HS and the majors, I might agree with you. These kids haven't picked up a bat in 7? years. You want them to stand in against the best on the planet for what? In the name of strategy? Bunting and double switching is overrated.

And I say this as a fan of possibly the best hitting pitcher in baseball.

Look at Pete and Bootz coming to agreement on something.

What team does this Hampton guy play for where he will no longer bat because of the DH?

More like "when". Hampton played in the early 90s to late 2000s for several teams. But he was a career .234 hitter and hit 16 career HRs. I believe he's won the most Silver Slugger awards for pitchers also.

Who exactly were you referring to by greatest hitting pitcher of all time?

Are there still Braves fans here? Or have you all made the change over to the Rays?

Just in case there are any of you left, thanks for kicking Freddie to the curb.

The Rays and Jays “have remained aggressive” on Freeman, according to MLB.com’s Mark Bowm
But seriously, Freeman is most likely a Yankees

Holy Batman
'ON THE SAME PAGE': The Atlanta Braves and Matt Olson, recently acquired from the Oakland Athletics, agreed to an eight-year contract worth $168 million that runs through the 2029 season, with a $20 million club option for 2030.

Cleveland is going to start this year with only 6 players earning $1M or more on their roster.

And a draft pick! And a 3rd round draft pick!

Ugh. I know we wanted to make room for Lowe, but for chrissakes. Trade a 2.0 WAR guy who hits 25+ HR and about 100 RBI, and we can't at least get an arm?

A fat shortstop. A shortstop who is too fat to play shortstop. And who can't hit, but walks a lot and maybe someday might have potential.
