Byron Leftwich: Hired
Byron Leftwich: Hired
New Jags HC. Good luck Byron. Thanks for the comp pick on the way out.
Arians says he will be calling plays again. Who gets the OC gig?

The prodigal son returns. Good for him. And he gets a great young QB off the bat. I could not be happier for him. Hope to kick his ass in the Super Bowl.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Good for him, wish him best of luck in future.
Looking forward to those sweet comp picks.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
It seems like a mortal lock to me. Goodwin is a good coach, and he was Arians's OC with Arizona, and they had a ton of success.
Whether or not he calls the plays, who knows? But I'd be shocked if Goodwin isn't given the title.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
I don't think Lefty has the chops to be a head coach but he seems like a decent guy and I wish him the best (unless he is playing us)
Also, I too am excited for that nice comp pick. We have a lot of guys to replace soon, it will be Lefty's last gift to us.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
I never got a "head coach" kind of vibe from him. He seems a lot more like the guy you want in your foxhole, but not necessarily leading the troops. It wouldn't be the first thing I was wrong about though.Terry Tate wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 2:46 am I don't think Lefty has the chops to be a head coach but he seems like a decent guy and I wish him the best (unless he is playing us)

We all should wish him the very best. He's part of the family. He was a good Buc. He'll have to be a GREAT coach to get Jacksonville on track, but there are some good things. There's a lot of talented youth from all the high drafting, and he has the quarterback (or at least, he can't really think about replacing the quarterback anytime soon.)
The 3rd Rounder is huge. We only had 6 picks, and unlike last year, there are going to be some holes to fill heading into camp.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
I'm glad he got hired because he seems like a good guy and great leader but I won't his playcalling and offensive philosophy. We also desperately need picks. If we get another pick from Bowles, we can restock our RB and TE room with our 3rd round picks alone.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
At this stage of Brady's career he's looking to break records and do things that haven't been done before, at least in the modern era. I say make Tom Brady the OC and he still plays QB for another year. That would be news worthy. Hopefully Todd Bowles is gone and we can bring in some Ex-Patriot DEF guy and let the dynasty begin.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
I would think quite a few would want to DC that team.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Haven’t seen this from a major source like Rap or Schefter yet… Not believing it until I do.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Dilla posted about the CJ Henderson situation, I want to say weeks, before anyone else. This is a done deal imo.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Great young QB and a number one draft pick to get a cornerstone left tackle or a dynamic edge rusher. And there's several players that would fit the bill at the top of the draft. They could even trade down a spot or two, pick up more picks and still get the guy they want.

Congratulations, Coach Leftwich.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Too early in the draft for your type of prospects, eh?
Kwon was an early 4th rounder
Whitehead was an early 4th rounder
Cappa was a late 3rd rounder
Kendall Beckwith was a late 3rd also
Jason Licht has repeatedly hit on prospects in that late 3rd - 4th round range.
Given the future salary cap contraints the Bucs will be in due to trying to maximize the current window of success w/ Brady we're going to need alot of young talent (on cheap rookie contracts) to fill some of the depth and key roles.
Two late 3rds for Leftwich
Hopefully two more if Bowles gets hired.
Then whatever comp picks we get next year if/when players like CD3 leave in FA on big money deals.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
Speculation is that Lunchbox may be taking a few Bucs assistants with him to Jacksonville. If Bowles gets a job the same could happen as well.
Seeing that Bucs OLB coach Larry Foote would be a favorite to be the DC in Jacksonville and Bucs WR coach Kevin Garver would be the OC.
It's also very possible that DL coach Kacy Rodgers follows Bowles should he get a HC job.
That's quite a bit of turnover in the coaching staff potentially.

I don't see any names. You dig at me and send a blank page?

How strange for one of the worst coaching staffs in the league who should all be fired...Dread wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 10:04 am Speculation is that Lunchbox may be taking a few Bucs assistants with him to Jacksonville. If Bowles gets a job the same could happen as well.

We actually get two comp picks because he’s black.

I believe so but one might be future.Tnbandwagoner wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 12:06 pmAre they both third-rounders? If so that could be huge.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
And if Bowles gets hired too we will get an extra FOUR 3rd round picks.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
A third this year and a third next year.Tnbandwagoner wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 12:06 pmAre they both third-rounders? If so that could be huge.
Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
I worry Lefty could poach Larry Foote from us only to later have Bowles take a HC job as well.

Re: Byron Leftwich: Hired
"It's not official yet, they jumped the gun" is a textbook way of sidestepping having been scooped.
At this point I'd be surprised if it's not Lefty.
