If anyone wonders why the Lightning are still playing so well and close to the top of their division (2nd as of today), look no further than Vasy. The dude is a freak.

Check out these 2 saves vs the Blackhawks a couple of nights ago...

And this franchise-record 3 goals in 32 seconds in the same game just for some icing on the cake...

Oh that's easy. Easy. We've been on the road for 2+ weeks with a token home game thrown in. We've got 2 new guys and are (well... hopefully McDonagh is okay) healthy for the first time as a team in quite some time. We haven't really had time to practice due to being on the road so much too. Let em have some adversity. This is good for them. If you're gonna be the first threepeat champions in almost 40 years you need to be mentally prepared. I could not possibly be happier that this is happening to them right now. I would rather us have serious issues now than in the middle of the playoffs.

There's nothing about any of this that isn't fixable.

If they stink up the homestand I'll be a bit worried. Given how much they've played lately it would be wise for everyone to have an off day today, practice tomorrow before the game against Carolina, and you've got til Friday til the next game. We've been pretty out of sync for a few weeks and being home with a few "one off" short distance games on the road will do wonders than simply being on a plane or hotel room. I think Carolina has the chance of being the last real stinker in this stretch.

They're exhausted

Hockey is much better live. We had an amazing time! It's easier to stay engaged than it is during a football or baseball game.

Yep. When the action is pretty much nonstop, it's hard not to stay engaged.

So...was last night's bed-shitting what we can expect for the rest of this postseason, or was that a fluke performance?

Last two seasons were anomalies for first round playoff hockey.

2019 5 series in the opening round went 6 or more games.
2018 5 series went 6 or more games.
2017 4 series went 6 or more games.

You can theoretically go 16 and 12 during the playoffs and be the Champs.

Way too early to fret.

The Rangers have the makings of a juggernaut with that young core.

I'm still blown away that the islanders missed the playoffs.

Will the Avalanche choke again?

How in the world did the Stars slip into the playoffs with a negative differential?

The best playoffs in all of sports.

For 2/3 rd's of the game the lightning locked down that rim option with the Leafs third line that killed us the first 3 games. They did get sloppy on two and paid the price with the same drawn up play on the Leafs 2nd line.

Leafs whole game is speed on the quick transition, very similar to the lightning in 2018-2019. That will not get you far in the Playoffs. That leaves opponents open to easily attack your net as long as all your shots are on goal and do not sail wide ricocheting out to the circle. Leaf's have the highest goals allowed of any team in the playoffs.

I honestly don't know where the Leafs go from here. They are going to have to switch up their lines.

They could try and Swap Kampf for Kase and get even quicker on the transition with their 2nd line an attempt to get and early jump. Which will not result in long term playoff success.

Bunting ducking like a bitch was a bit comical, he is supposed to be a 4th line menace but showed up a scared dog.

That guy seems to always get a bad wrap. Sounds like Lamoriello is trying to save his seat. Trotz took them to back to back third rounds. Then this year they got snakebit with the injury bug.

If I'm Chicago I'm flying him out today.

So, this isn't good. The Bolts just looked gassed out there. Came out on fire, but then looked like they were trying to hang on instead of trying to win.

Oddly enough, I have full confidence we'll force a game 7.

Hmm..

Is it the Maple Leafs(Leaves) year?

You guys haven’t looked great, Hurricanes have, we’ve looked like an offensive force but have no goaltending, the Caps/Panthers series is a war(Ovie ain’t going out without a fight).

Good playoffs so far.

Poor discipline, they got sucked into the Leaf's strong suit.

Needed to slow the game down but instead tried to keep up.
