I get that but if you miss the first down (like we did) we don’t get the points. And Brady is on the field for one more play (or many really) than necessary. And we just as easily could have done an onsides kick. I understand the decision - I guess I just don’t like it. At all.

This. Don't get it, and they have to go 90 yards whatever for one score, with no chance of a freak blocked kick or a big return to aid them. It was the correct call. Hell, kneeling down and turning the ball over would been an acceptable call in that situation.
