I went to a bunch of their games and even a few practices at HCC's Dale Mabry campus. Does that count as being in?

My issue is all the games are going to be played in Birmingham. That makes no sense at all. Why bother even giving the teams names and cities if said cities' fans can't even go?

I assume it's temporary. Let the league get a little juice (mainly on TV, obviously.) Put a little money in the plus column by keeping expenses low. And, of course, this mitigates Covid (or more accurately, Covid regulations.)

Shoot, I'll watch it.

Todd Haley is basically the bizarro Ted Lasso. Kinda looks the same, but dude is a Grade-A prick. I'm in the KC market and lemme tell you, I can't remember a Chiefs figure hated more than Todd Haley.

So I guess that makes us the bad boys of the USFL?

Speaking of Chiefs and hate... I didn't realize until this weekend just how much people hate the people around Mahomes... like his fiancee, his brother... others?

Yup, both the wife and his brother are popular on social media and they are loud/outspoken/irrational with a lot of their takes, relevance, so the hate flows.

One example: Last week's walkoff win, the wife is in a suite, they win, she sprays champagne all over the crowd beneath and people were mad because "who wants champagne on them in cold weather, what about the children, etc."

I didn't know about that incident until my daughter pointed it out to me over the weekend. To be honest, I would have been pissed had I been a fan that happened to. That's just disrespectful, imo. As I've read more about them, I see quite an "entitled" attitude from them both. Sometimes she talks about Mahome's accomplishments as if they were her own. She's kinda sickening, to be honest.

Sumlin and Riley are bottom barrel. I doubt Fisher coaches more than 30 mins a week with this job.

Yeah, pretty bottom tier coaching hires with the exception of Fisher and possibly Haley. In addition to having every game in Birmingham, what this league is doing is mind boggling if they hope to sustain long term success.

If Fisher is willing to coach in the USFL, you know he’s just dying to coach in the NFL. I suppose it’s possible that he takes this very seriously. Everyone knows the book on him though. Hard to see him changing.

I'm old enough to remember when Kevin Sumlin was a white-hot NFL candidate.

I don't know who Bart Andrus is. That's saying something.

I wish Mike Riley luck. He failed miserably here in Lincoln, but he's legit one of the best dudes I've ever met. I hope he becomes the Vince Lombardi of this league.

And Jeff Fisher? Well, he's lost the most games coaching in NFL history. If he can manage to lose the most games in USFL history as well, that would be Alpha as fuck.

Michigan Panthers select former Michigan QB Shea Patterson with No. 1 overall pick in USFL Draft

Tampa Bay Bandits selected QB Hawaii’s Jordan Ta’amu second overall.

USFL is gonna be so bad. When Shea Patterson goes #1 your operation is bad.

I scrolled through a few hundred of the draft picks looking for familiar names. I knew like, 3. And two of them were godawful QBs who couldn’t keep an NFL roster spot.

Isn't that what this league is for? Guys who spent time in NFL training camps and didn't make it? I'm shocked Taylor Corneilus and Quentin Flowers didn't get their names called.

You think they could’ve put enough money together to get a Johnny Manziel or a Tim Tebow or someone of notoriety to generate some freak show interest. As is, this is shit even by AAF/XFL standards.

The AAF was a great league. Too bad the owner pulled the funding and shut it down. It could've been special for years to come.

This league I don't see succeeding with the fact that all the games are going to be in Birmingham.

There are a few guys on "our" roster I'm legit excited about.

Jordan Ta'amu was a legit NFL QB prospect for me. I thought he'd be a good backup for a WCO type team.
Eli Rogers looked like a guy who could play WR in the league when he was with the Steelers. Kind of a homeless man's Diontae Johnson.
Jordan Lasley was a beast at UCLA.
John Franklin III I think was in camp with us a few times, wasn't he?
Obi Melifonwu was a friggin' 2nd round pick not long ago.
Christian Sam was damn good at ASU.
Damien Mama is a mauling guard.
Daylon Mack was a two-gapping DT I really liked heading into his draft.

There are a few others I've at least heard of. This is the best roster in the league, or close to it. I'm gonna put a sawbuck on this team winning the whole thing.

The Tampa Bay Vipers of the XFL were supposedly a talented team and had the leading rusher in the league. They also had the worst record in the league.

USFL begins first season: 5 new innovations you have to see

1). Helmet cam
2). Locker room access
3). Audibles, slide protections and Omahas
4). Two forward passes, overtime, onside kicks and more
5). Ball tracking technology

The first weekend of the USFL has been a complete disaster. Whoever the genius is that thought of playing all the games in Birmingham needs to get smacked in the head a few times. With the exception of the Generals/Stallions, the games drew practically no one. And even that one game drew less than 12,000. And on top of that, they POSTPONE the Bandits/Maulers game because of inclement weather. Since when the fuck do you postpone a football game because of weather??

I honestly see this league going the way of the AAF. Meanwhile the XFL is doing it right, biding its time and setting up partnerships with the NFL.
