Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Paolo Banchero is an All Star for the first time in his second season. Magic are now 4/4 with ending up with All Stars when we get the #1 pick.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I don't watch much basketball, but the Magic are in 7th place for the Eastern Conference playoffs. When was the last time they were in the playoff?

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Magic made the playoffs two years in a row in 2019 and 2020. More due to weak conferences than good play though. Last playoff series win was 2010.

2009 was the Finals year. We lost to Boston in the 2010 ECF.Phantom wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 4:50 pmWas that year they went to the Finals?Miller4Prez64 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 06, 2024 7:16 am

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Magic have officially clinched just their second winning season since trading Dwight Howard in 2012. With one more win, this season will officially be the best in the post Dwight era.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Tonight’s win now means the current Magic have won more games than any season during the T-Mac era. We peaked at 44 wins with Tracy and hit 45 wins tonight.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Magic just forced a Game 7 against the Cavs in Cleveland. Hopefully they got one big upset road win in them.

Let go Magic!
Paolo Banchero's choice by the Magic looks very promising up to now

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Banchero is Carmelo 2.0. Slightly less fluid, but it’s my comp.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Such a disappointing way to go out in Game 7. Had a huge lead then shit the bed. Paolo did everything he could, just had no help. Especially Franz Wagner shit the bed today.
I’m still proud of the season the Magic had and the future is bright, but that sucks. It’s been so long since we’ve advanced in the playoffs and we threw our shot away.

We need to add another scorer. Franz is not it
Paul George?

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I just don’t see Paul George wanting to come here. Klay Thompson is the hot rumor for Orlando right now.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
You don’t want Klay Thompson. That would be a bad decision.

Mitchell >Thompson/George

Donovan Mitchell is widely rumored to be done with Cleveland. The star guard dominated the Magic this postseason and showed he is a true superstar. He can be that go-to scorer to pair with Banchero. They are both young and showed plenty of ability to dominate or let their teammates cook. It would truly be a match made in heaven.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I don’t see the Magic trading any assets, just using their cap space to sign shooting. Which is why I think they just end up with Klay, they can sign him to a 2 year deal and have that money clear up in time for Bancher/Wagner/Suggs extensions.
Malik Monk would be nice too, but idk if the Magic will give him long term money and he had a suspension for drug use years back and the Magic are weird about character issues compared to most NBA teams.

@McFan go Knicks!
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I hope this doesn't fuck up Magic on free agency plans.BREAKING: The Los Angeles Lakers are in talks to trade Anthony Davis and draft picks to the Chicago Bulls for Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and a future first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
That's a tuuuurrrrrible trade for the Lakers. What in the actual fuck are they thinking if this is true?!?!?
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
No chance it’s true
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
The only thing on my mind is Donovan Mitchell. I believe the Lakers will make an attempt to acquire him.
I want him in Orlando
I want him in Orlando
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst has reported that the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers have trade offers ready for Mitchell if the Cavaliers fail to extend him this offseason since he still has one year left on his contract that will pay him over $35 million next season.
Another team that should inquire about Mitchell is the Orlando Magic. The team experienced firsthand the impact he could have when he almost singlehandedly eliminated the Magic in a seven-game playoff series
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
The Lakers don’t have shit to offer. The media wants it to happen so bad but there’s no chance.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Smart move
BREAKING: UConn Men's Basketball head coach Dan Hurley has turned down the Los Angeles Lakers' six-year, $70 million offer, sources tell ESPN.

When ESPN reported LA was offering him a “massive” contract…and the details came out as 6/70… not even top 5 paid coaches…GTFO
