Re: NBA other than NY thread:
I think it's been pretty fun to see the rule changes on fouls absolutely destroy the gimmicky games of players like James Harden.
Meanwhile, Steph keeps climbing the ladder of all-time greats.
I heard on the radio that the Warriors get more than double the TV ratings of the 2nd best team in the NBA. Ratings around the league are up 28% this year.

Doesn't surprise me at all. People love watching long-range shots. Plus the Warriors are a really good squad. What are they gonna do when Klay's back... ratings will rise even more.uscbucsfan wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 9:48 am I think it's been pretty fun to see the rule changes on fouls absolutely destroy the gimmicky games of players like James Harden.

And for the foul changes... I love hearing Draymond Green talk about it.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Franz Wagner needs to win ROTY. Like when we picked him, I expected him to be pretty good defensively because he was already responsible on his own end of the court. But his offense is becoming more polished by the week.
Think about it. We're like 500 years removed from the Dwightmare not really any further along and you trading AG and Vuc. Yet that c ould be the best thing to happen to us in a long time. Somehow Toronto derps and lets us have Suggs (he'll come along, #HeJustNeedsMoreTime) Wagner is a stud (thank you for the pick Chicago) we're (mostly) competitive in games even without Fultz and Isaac, Anthony is progressing very nicely and God help us if we actually get lucky in the draft lottery. Inject the tall lanky bastard directly into my veins so we can have a cornerstone at center in Chet. When he puts some weight on him he'll be fine.
Somehow we've gone from having no hope at all to the most hope I can remember having since like 2009 in like 10 months.
Sports is weird man

These playoffs haven’t been terrible.
Unique defense on Durant, Sixers up 3-0.
Book out 2-3 weeks.

Also the Timberwolves’ 26 point collapse was glorious to watch.

Do you want to know why the NBA sucks now? Because they don't have stuff like this:

By the way, in old school NBA Jam, I used to wreck shop using Kemp and Shchrempf.
Re: NBA other than NY thread:
If you would've told the mid-20's version of me that the 42yr old version of me would like the NHL more than MLB and the NBA I would've never believed how that could be possible, but here I am.
I grew up on the late 80's and MJ era of the 90's in the NBA. Never missed a playoff game.
Same of MLB. I loved the steroid era! You still had great pitching as well.
Both sports just seem more boring versions of themselves. I think analytics are too blame to some degree with they dictate how the game is played which imo is less entertaining for the fan/consumer, but imo there seems to be a lack of passion from today's athletes relative to that era.
I'm trying to re-immerse myself into the NBA in these playoffs and I just can't get into it.

I’m having a hard time getting into Hockey, as it’s been the same thing for coming up on 20 years. Playoffs in both sports are the time that their best comes out. NBA playoffs are showing a bunch of cocky guys who just want paid more so than having passion for the sport they were blessed to play for a living. Referees have made it tough for me to watch the NBA. Let the guys compete, let them officiate themselves at times. This shit of stopping everything is dumb. Sometimes guys become too friendly. The sport used to be so hateful towards opposition.

The fact his supporting players won 2 games without him says they don’t suck. They just aren’t household names. Brunson dropped 30+ twice while Luka was gone.Phantom wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 12:59 amI really like Luka Dončić. He’s great player but he need lot help from supporting players. Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Dude’s crazy. I picked the Mavs to win the west when they made the trade with the Wizards. They are a really guard centric team. If anyone can run with the Warriors, it’s this Mavs team. If Booker is unhealthy, Mavs get a run going.Primeminister wrote: ↑Tue Apr 26, 2022 1:05 amThe fact his supporting players won 2 games without him says they don’t suck. That Ja dunk was crazy.
Eager to see if the Celtics can contain Giannis.

Re: NBA other than NY thread:
Luka’s situation feels like first Cavs tenure LeBron. Young transcendent wing. Not nearly enough help. But Luka is too singularly good to get them high picks in the draft. So it comes down to the front office being able to make moves to get good guys around him. But if they swing and miss on their first few attempts, they’re out of assets, they’re out of ammo, they’re in trouble.

Glad to see Harden stepped up...
