Good on 'em

Since I left the area, I haven't kept up. What's that do for the perspective move (or relo to Tampa)?
Probably nothing. Years ago Hillsborough County taxpayers be like "I'll give you $20 for that ballpark" like it's an episode of Pawn Stars. Fast forward today it's like "Oh my God you ungrateful bitch!! The best I can do is $25 I CANNOT go any higher"

I'm fully expecting us to relocate someday and we'll gaslight an ownership that brings us 90 win baseball because a guy worth $800 million wouldn't pay $900 million out or pocket for e ballpark while we ate out the hand

It's a scary thought to think what our record would be with a healthy pitching staff. I'm pretty sure I saw the ball boy warming up in the bullpen

Is this the best Rays team ever? Forget the W/L record, I'm talking about the talent assembled.

Not a chance. This Rays team is great in terms of playing as a team and scrapping to win games. But the Rays teams from 2010 is probably the best ever in terms of talent assembled. Longoria, Crawford, Upton, Price, Shields, Pena, Zobrist, Garza, Soriano, Benoit to name a few. The 2009 team might’ve been more talented. I believe Pena & Longoria went 30/100 that year. They just had a lot of injuries.

This might be the most balanced Rays team, and there is a great assembly of young talent right now - both offensive and defensive.

The future is bright for Nashville.

The 2009 and 2010 teams suffered 2 perfect games against Mark Buehrle and Dallas Braden, a no hitter from Edwin Jackson. They might've had a sexy lineup but those guys couldn't hit for shit. I'm like 99% sure they had a single .300 hitter in Crawford... I THINK Bartlett was .300 in one of those years too. Pena, Burrell and Upton were certified piss breaks because you knew all 3 of them were striking out in order. And dear God don't get me started on hitting with runners on base. These days our old hitting coach of the day Derek Shelton is tank commander in Pittsburgh. Go figure. Dude was fucking garbage and I hold him accountable for our lineups for never learning how to hit.

If 2010 is GOAT Rays team it's because the pitching was dynamite. We could beat you in 7 innings because no one was touching Benoit and Soriano in the 8th and 9th.

Oh yeah and holla holla holla at your boy Joe Maddon and his unrelenting obsession with Gabe fucking Kapler.

Oh yeah and to answer the question this is easily the most balanced starting 9 we've ever had. They don't choke out at the worst possible moment. They'll erupt in the 8th inning and win any given game. Pitching goes to 2010 by a longshot.

You put that pitching staff with this starting 9 we'd be sitting at 100 wins already topping out probably around 102.

That plan can eat a dick and fuck itself into a ditch. Montreal can have them. MLB will then turn right around and grant us expansion because they can't afford to not have the 13th ranked TV market under contract.

On top of a shit ballpark in a shit location no one can emotionally invest in the product because everyone you love is just gone in 2 years anyway

For the record I'm cool with being wrong. It's gonna keep happening somehow. I've just learned as a sports fan that every league in the world derps for the almighty dollar and I have faith we're dealing with an Arizona Coyotes situation where the league will do damn near anything to save us

Once Kittridge gets back off IL, the backend of the pen should stabilize. I agree though, it's a bit of a worry. But at least we have homefield thru the AL postseason.

1 more win to 100.

Aside from allowing Houston to clinch their division the other night, this has been an almost perfect week in Rays Baseball. Playoff berth, AL East title, and home field advantage throughout the pennant race all wrapped up. Capping today off with win 100 would make “almost perfect” perfect. And doing it in New York? That’s the cherry on top.

Best case scenario happened for the Rays. Sox & Yankees win the wildcards. Rays have made both teams their bitch over the season. Either matchup bodes well for the Rays in the ALDS. Prefer to face NY as their pitching has faltered and their offense is one of the worst in baseball. Rays should win in a sweep.

So the Ybor idea came up again. And with it so did the split season. Dude is there any way to force this clown to either drop the idea, sell the team or just move it already? I almost hope we build it and turn around and tell Stu to fuck off after relentlessly beating this idea. And to think I was a fan who was on his side for a decade....

Goes twice for me. We had 3 years of a team once we got out of the wilderness followed by 10 years of winging it with rather excellent results. In that time I defended Stu no matter what because we never filled the stands anyway. I'd almost say we deserve this but I would GLADLY pay my 1 in a millionth part of the bill. As a taxpayer what would this cost me? $2,000 at absolute most over the lifetime of 30-40 years paying for the park? I dropped that much to be at Amalie the night we won the Cup. And to be fair I am purposely over-estimating what I'd pay

I've been begging to throw my good money at a ballpark. But I'm sure as hell not going for a split season at my expense

That's pretty amazing when you think about it. It's no wonder the Rays can do so well in MLB with a low payroll. They have all these young guys they develop and can bring up on a cheap contract, then when they're ready to cash in on a high-dollar contract, they let them go to some other team to pay them and bring up the next kid.

It's like watching the Patriots version in baseball.
