Re: NCAA football 2025
I’m not sure about LSU’s odd.

He used it! That mysterious teleportation device, he used it! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria, he used it!
Re: NCAA football 2025
Not saying they are going to win it but the Gators will be a playoff threat next year. Might be worth 10 bucks especially with all these big-name transfers they’ve been stealing from other schools.
Re: NCAA football 2025
I know things are still in flux, but can anyone find a site that lists the starters returning for the major contenders? All I'm getting are articles for the 2024 season.

I believe Illinois is the team to watch.

@Zarni
That’s what I was talking about earlier
See Illinois at #7.

Re: NCAA football 2025
Are you mad that I was right about Illinois? Man, you’re really weird.
Re: NCAA football 2025
What is there to be right about?
Do you expect Illinois to be a top seven team when all is said and done next year?

Re: NCAA football 2025
I noticed that one team is missing from my initial post. Texas? No way they’re going to miss the playoffs with Arch Manning. I believe he’s 20x better than Ewers.
Re: NCAA football 2025
That's strange. When I read your initial post, I mentally subbed them in where I saw A&M on the list and thought, huh, that's low for Texas.
I just looked at Texas's schedule, and it gives them a nice path to the conference championship. Just beat Georgia on the road, and they could run through everyone else no problem. Oh, and there's also that week one opening game.... on the road.... at Ohio State. That could be a trap game or some such.
Re: NCAA football 2025
Are you serious? Gators aren’t there yet, but maybe in next three years.
Re: NCAA football 2025
They’re closer than you think. Like I said…not saying they’ll win it all but top 12 or top 14? It’s possible. Lagway will keep getting better and they’re bringing in a lot of talent. At the very least the Florida-Tennessee and Florida-Georgia games should start being good again.

I attend the Georgia-Florida game every year as part of a tradition. Fun funNavybuc wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 1:01 pmThey’re closer than you think. The CFP National Championship between No. 8 Ohio State and No. 7 Notre Dame averaged 22.1 million viewers.
That's a significant drop from last year's National Championship game between No. 1 Michigan and No. 2 Washington, which averaged 25.05 million viewers.
Go Blue!

On a Monday night in the middle of NFL playoffs. And cord cutting has never been more popular. Yeah…
It wasn’t the teams

Lol! Didn’t you say they’ll set a record? Heh.
Never fails to amaze me.

Don’t expect the ratings to be any better next year even if it’s Alabama vs Michigan or Texas vs USC. January 20 is too late for college football.Phantom wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 8:56 pm The CFP National Championship between No. 8 Ohio State and No. 7 Notre Dame averaged 22.1 million viewers.

What I would do is eliminate the conference championships, play the first round of the playoffs that weekend and get it so you have the semifinals on New Years Day and the championship on Jan. 8 (or right around that) every year. By Jan. 20, the NFL is the main focus and people forget about college.
You had two brand schools playing and there was no hype for the game because everyone was fixated on the NFL Divisional round which is arguably the best playoff weekend of all of them. I like the division round better than the conference championships or SB.

I agree completely. If I don’t have some sort of affiliation or rooting interest with one of the teams in the finals, I don’t think I’d be watching that late into January either.
Its just too long

Same here. Mid-season, I will watch Northeastern Wichita Polytechnic vs. Alabaster Women's College for Men all day long, but for whatever reason, I only checked in on this game periodically. I wanted to get a flavor for it at first, then I did some other things, then I wandered back after halftime to see a few drives, then checked out again until I saw on my scoreboard app that ND was making a push, so I returned to watch the end.
Not even remotely my normal level of interest, and this was THE GAME.... allegedly. I don't know if it was burnout, or distractions, or what, but my heart just wasn't in it.

Re: NCAA football 2025
I tuned in for about 5 minutes during the 3rd quarter. Neither team interested me in the slightest

Re: NCAA football 2025
@Snake … judkins announced for draft
So that leaves Peoples and the transfer from WV
Igbinosun is staying

Seems like the whole group in here is avoiding the draft.

Probably more than you care to even know about, but I went down the rabbit hole re: Knowles leaving.
It appears Ryan Day gave Knowles some notes before the (first) Oregon game. Prior to that, Day didn’t touch the defense. They implemented a lot of different tactics in the practice leading up to Oregon. Jack Sawyer‘s mom confirmed that they didn’t implement any of those changes during the (first) game itself. Jim totally disregarded the notes. Which pissed off a lot of the players, and especially the other coaches.
After the game, Day and Knowles had a come to Jesus meeting. Wherein Day told Knowles the changes that would be implemented going forward. No questions asked. Apparently the relationship was irreparable after that. Though the defense did take off and end up being the best defense in the country.
Knowles accepted the Penn State job prior to the celebration of the championship. The buckeyes told him not to bother showing up for the celebration upon learning that. Knowles’s sister is on social media lowkey bad mouthing the buckeyes about this.
Knowles has been described as “aloof” and his tendency to bounce around organizations suggest that he just wears people out and relationships diminish. Apparently, he also has a massive ego, but he’s understated about it until it can’t be hidden anymore. Day just pushed the right/wrong button.
Anyways. Pretty happy to hear these stories about Ryan Day. He seems like the guy!
