Bench him and eat the money
Keyshawn him for the rest of his contract? Or just cut him out right and eat the hit?

I think if they cut him its like 120 in one year. I don’t remember the exact number, but I know it’s about half the salary cap

I don’t think that would be possible

Just bench him

The team plays differently when it played for Flacco and now Winston.

In listing Watson as a possible "surprise" cut candidate this offseason, Graziano all but acknowledged that Cleveland needs to cut its losses and accept a $172.7 million dead-money hit, spread over the next two years.

"There comes a point when the negatives outweigh the positives and it's worth just eating the cost," Graziano wrote. "Since the positives have been stuck close to or at zero for three years, one has to believe the Browns have reached that point. Designating him as a post-June 1 cut would allow them to spread the dead-money hit out over two years, and that's probably the best solution the Browns have right now.

Okay, I'm just gonna say it. Loved watching Winston snow ball fight with the TNF crew.

This took an odd, if not unsurprising turn. That bizarre prepared statement he read yesterday made the situation untenable.

What a series of bad moves.

- Sign Jones to a huge extension.
- Let Saquon walk to your division rival.
- Jones goes 3-13 after signing his extension and is barely functional as a professional quarterback.
- Cut Jones after it's clear he ain't the guy.

Poor Giants fans.

Just goes to show you how scary being QBless is and how desperately teams try avoid it.

People act like it was some easy or obvious no brainer to let Winston walk after leading the league in passing, but so many other GMs would've absolutely Daniel Jones'd him instead of checking behind door #2.

I think they were hoping he'd end up like Eli, bumpy start, has bumpy games, but ended up being solid and good enough to lead the giants to 2 Lombardis.

However we see all the time that this isnt the norm. Rookies typically have til the end of their contract to show they can be relied upon.

Jones was only decent for 1 year, the Giants were duped into thinking he turned a corner and now theyre paying for it.

It's clear this was driven by ownership. When Brian Daboll gives his first ever press conference with the team after being hired and the *FIRST* damn thing out of his mouth other than the introductory thank yous is about Daniel Jones being there to greet him at the facility.... you know he took that job with developing Jones as THE objective due to the success of Josh Allen

I couldn't believe it when I heard it

Great googly-moogly that's a ....take. Even the "Hee neads moar thyme" people were done with Winston, and half the board, myself included were literally on the, "Anybody but Winston" train.

Nobody wants a qb who, in their 5th year in the league, throws 30 INTs.

Ah, no. Jones at least had a somewhat decent season in his contract year. Winning record, 22 total TDs between passes/rushes, only 7 turnovers between ints/fumbles and lead his team to the playoffs where they beat the 13-4 Vikings and lost to the eventual NFC champs. In the win over the Vikings, he threw 2 TDs, no turnovers, had over 300 yards passing and lead the team in rushing.

Sure, Winston threw for more TDs and yards in his contract year, but the team had a losing record. He personally turned the ball over 35 times with 30 Ints and 5 lost fumbles (as a whole TB had 41 turnovers in 2019). 7 interceptions returned for TDs (most in a season since they started recording it as a stat in 1950). There's a reason Winston hasn't been a starter elsewhere since then.

Daniel Jones was one of the least productive QBs in football. I thought this was a joke but the last time he had 3 TD passes in a game was December of 2019. By comparison Jameis Winston came off the bench and threw 3 against the Ravens last month.

You can't win if you can't score. And the Giants under Jones were as bad as anyone at doing that.

You forget the Arians learning curve. Every QB has had high TD high Int first year, then Ints come down year two as the grinding reps forge that pivotal top tier chemistry that results in more biscuits than risk-its.

Of course the GOAT at his peak experience cut that learning curve in half.

He ran back the onside and scored, so now it's an eight point game with a little time left. They could have just knelt down and won.
