I believe JJ McCarthy will have a better pro career than Caleb Williams.

While that might happen, it won't be because of how they performed against their own defenses in practice.

The San Francisco 49ers have the framework of a Brandon Aiyuk trade with both the Cleveland Browns and the New England Patriots.

It's up to Aiyuk to decide if he will accept one of the contract terms.

Which rookie quarterback are you looking forward to? Personally, I'm excited about JJ McCarthy and Jayden Daniels. I can't wait to see how Daniels performs in the Washington offense.

I’m pretty intrigued about all of them for different reasons.

All of them.

I am curious if Caleb Williams can maintain his elite play in the men's league; some folks have given Mahomesian comparisons, and if he can be anything close to that he could be the best QB in Bears history.

Jayden Daniels was a joy to watch at LSU, and I think he has amazing potential with live arm talent and the most dangerous legs since Lamar Jackson, though the dropoff in receiving talent between LSU and Washington is going to be clifflike and he's going to have to be a rookie savior fast.

Maye in New England should be... okay I guess. I am more interesting in seeing how Jerod Mayo runs that team.

Bo Nix for the Broncos could be interesting. He was absurd in college from an efficiency standpoint and is as experienced as a prospect could be, and he's going to a good coaching staff with Sean Payton. Could he pull the Broncos out of QB hell, that would be good for the NFL if he did. Any team showing a pulse in the AFC West to compete with the Chiefs is a good thing imo.

And finally we come to JJ McCarthy, who took my alma mater Michigan to a national championship and I think is walking onto the best situation out of all the rookies. I wish him all possible success, but he never had to be elite in college, all he had to do was keep the ship from keeling over and convert rare third-and-longs.

Long story, looking forward to football season.

Bo Nix is the most intriguing of the rookies to me. As Cheb said; his college stats were incredible. And efficiency in the NFL means good things happen. If you can hit the receiver when he’s open, you can march.

That's a hard pass for me.

We have plenty of young depth in Palmer and McMillan to take meaningful snaps. JJSS only steals their reps, and I would much rather develop our own dudes than give a (probably) washed up vet his swan song.

No we're good, we have Sheppard as another vet presence.

However, I suppose an injury may change my mind.

That NE receiving corps is pretty barren. If they’re casting him out there’s a really good reason.

He’s a name, only. Likely his career is over.

The Browns' new domed stadium

so Raymond James Stadium is nearly 30 years old, it is a matter of time we get a new domed stadium soon.

With the costs of building from scratch, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible for the city to get the Bucs a new stadium. It would be a lot cheaper to do some major renovations to the RayJay, including adding on a retractable roof or at least a partial roof to make it more like Hard Rock. Upgrades to the club sections, more bars in the main areas, and upgrades to the locker room facilities would be nice too. In fact, said upgrades may be essential in order to keep hosting Super Bowls/national championships.

It's also difficult to do what you're proposing in a manner of 7 months or so. Not to mention the inability to host any large concerts or events during construction of that magnitude.

Seeing as the Rays are building a new stadium, maybe the team can play in The Trop for one season.

He's 8th in sacks over the last 5 years and 22nd in $$$ for 2024. I'm guessing he wants that to match up a little better. Just guessing though. He'll be 30 when the season starts.

Similar to Ngakoue, there has to be some baggage. He's had double digit sacks every year since 2020 and is now on his 4th team, which he hasn't even played a down for. Man these pass rushers are the new divas.

Falcons sniffing around too after losing Trice to an ACL. Judon is older, but may not have as much baggage. He's also coming off a torn bicep.

I do feel like this is a weakness (especially with Diaby already nicked up) on our team and one of these guys puts the defense into a top 10 at minimum or even top 5 tier. Braswell hasn't shown he'll be able to make an immediate impact.

Neither did Diaby, until he did.

At least give Braswell until his SECOND PRESEASON GAME before writing him off.

JJ McCarthy will need knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus. At best, he will be out 4-6 weeks. At worst, out for the season. Sam Darnold is now their number one QB. They are fucked.

Weren’t you pretty down on Braswell immediately after he was drafted?

I’m not writing him off entirely.

I’m gleaning information from reading camp reports. Looks like it could be a bit before he can contribute impactful snaps.

Update on Brandon Aiyuk:
-- The Steelers and 49ers have a deal on a potential trade and PIT is in a good place on an Aiyuk contract, sources say. If SF gives the final sign-off, it's done.
-- SF has an offer out to Aiyuk on a long-term deal for him to stay. He hasn't accepted.

Yeah, I wasn't too optimistic about him based on his college reps, but still. Give the man a chance.

Even if Braswell doesn't come along anytime soon, I feel really good about Diaby entering year 2, decent about JTS/Nelson alternating reps at the other spot, and optimistic about Ramirez/Watts as developmental guys.
