The problem I think some people have is that Marpet did the same position swapped and it worked out of the gate. Then again Marpet came out with great feet which Mauch did not

Every single human and player is different.
Ali was Ali.
If Mauch reaches his ceiling I'm not gonna piss and moan about how long it took him.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Mauch was close to, if not the worst, guard in the NFL last year who received as many snaps as he did. But go off I guess.
Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Marpet is much stouter than Mauch was, even as rookies. Mauch looked positively underweight last year. Marpet's pad level was also consistently excellent even as a young buck, whereas Mauch frequently looks like he has a literal stick up his ass.
I'm not sticking a fork in Mauch because he was a rookie taking his lumps, but he was BAD last season.

You can't have the worst run game 2 years running and say you don't have major red flags on the team. That's ignoring the issue. IOL is a major problem for this team. All 3 spots. Miss me with "but we have Mauch". I can't name a reason he deserves to start and neither can you.
2. You must not know the difference I was trying to make between two types of holes.

1. I am not the only one who thinks you are a dipshit. It is more like 80% of the board.
2. Sure, I can explain. We have holes that I would define as serviceable players but not great players. We do not have several positions that are completely devoid of talent. There have been times this team has had three or four positions where not a single one of our players would find a starting role on ANY other team in the league. Right now most of our positions with holes are filled with guys that are middle of the league type players.

How long have you been waiting? Two seasons? Marpet abruptly retired and Jensen ruined his knee. Licht should just snap his fingers to replace them?GreatTimes wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2024 7:00 pmBucs fans have been patient for years waiting for the Bucs to put together a dominating offensive line. Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
That's the dilemma. Mauch is not a good fit at G, just like Goedeke wasn't. His feet are very slow. Play strength seemed to be inadequate at best. He doesn't use his hands worth a damn.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:09 amGoedeke was bad as a rookie too. Granted, we can’t move Mauch to tackle. I do think we should expect improvement in year two.
Making blanket statements like "just be patient" and "Mauch will improve year 2 because Licht OL players improve year 2" don't make you sound smart or make you a super fan. Ironically it makes you seem as if you've never watched a down of football as you're unable to formulate any cohesive argument as to why Mauch will improve.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Mauch was ranked #30 out of all guards. Not dominant, but not the disaster that some on here are claiming.
Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
PFF has Mauch as the #129 IOL
Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
His grade is 43.9 on PFF.
Funny enough I see what @13F11B did and it's pretty embarrassing.
If you go to the pff website here
https://www.pff.com/nfl/grades/position/g
It gives you the list of guards. If you don't have the subscription, after 1-3, the grades are redacted. But the players are still listed. It however is not in order. But count down from #1 to #30, guess who's listed at #30? Cody Mauch.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Amongst guards, PFF had Cody Mauch at #74 out of 79 graded players at the position. That means he's not even ranked amongst the 64 starting Gs in football, there were backups who were better. His run blocking grade was dead last amongst guards at 37.6.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
The only player who should feel safe on the Oline is Wirfs. Goedeke had a much better season at RT but who knows if that was a fluke or not. Given his limited length at the position it would still be ideal if he played on the interior.
We need to draft at minimum two interior lineman. Minimum.

Look at his snap count compared to the other guys in his tier. Spot duty versus being a full-time liability.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
I think we need a center first before we write anyone off. Godeke showed improvement since his rookie year and Mauch I think will be fine next year. I expect Mauch to have a better year 2 than the former.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 9:09 am The only player who should feel safe on the Oline is Wirfs. Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Better run that by Baker Mayfield.
You can get really good guards in the top 100. Keeping Bob Hainsey at center opens up your board.
Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Why would we keep the worst starting C in his same position? After 34 games at the position no one has been worse.draftguy2424 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 18, 2024 7:50 pmBetter run that by Baker Mayfield.

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Not only that, but Hainsey is undersized for a center and lacks the lower half (gluteal) strength needed for the position

Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Are there any realistic players you'd be happy trading our #26 for straight up?
Re: 2024 NFL Draft, What are the Bucs needs?
Was Dominique Hampton caught behind some good players going through the paces and would he be a good candidate for ILB?
How about Jalon Carlies?
Hmm, maybe I should direct this question to ummmmmm @Bootz

Anyone under 330 pounds, even bulked up, Hainsey is 306. Also, look up his scouting reports, they all say he has issues with lower body strength. That is your anchor, a weak anchor a weak center

If the rumor says OLine, I'm thinking that's the position they will not be drafting. Everyone lies coming up to draft time. Just my observation and expectation.Central_Buc wrote: ↑Sun Apr 21, 2024 8:42 am https://nfltraderumors.co/nfc-rumors-bu ... -saints-2/

Remember, the most important thing is being unpredictable. Surprises are what the draft is really about.
