Wow. Greatest college coach ever.

And so begins the most sought after job in college football in years.

My guess is they go after Dan Lanning.

I would have thought this a few years ago. Not so sure anymore. They will go hard after Lanning. Book it. DoBoer will get a look too. Kiffin as well.

Agree, he should. Deboer is only 49. Could
get 15 years out of him easy.

He whined and bitched his way into the playoffs over FSU and after he lost to Michigan, FSU fans began flooding him and his wife with threats and hate mail.

The FSU fan base harassed him into retirement

He maintained the best recruiting even after NIL. He wasn't against it, he just thought it should be regulated.

He's old...there were rumors he was thinking about retiring after his last NC.

End of an era, wish Saban luck moving forward in whatever endeavor he chooses.

It'll be interesting to see who Alabama choose to go with for a head coach, and what kind of downstream effects this will have on their recruiting. Bama currently has the second or third best incoming class depending on the source you like best.

Apropos of not much, national champion Michigan has the 13th to 15th ranked class.

Bruh.

Odd to say in today's climate, but I honestly think he's just plain happy where he is.

And plenty rich enough, so that also.

I also think that would be a bad move with his stance on the portal.

Doesn't he have a multiplier on his buyout if he goes to Bama?

If it's not Dan Lanning, then Mike Norvell and Steve Sarkisian are the person to keep an eye on.

It's tough to replace GOAT like Nick Saban. There will be growing pains. They can't expect an undefeated season every year. End of an era

I know you're joking, but seriously, do you think Ryan Day will survive the SEC? He can't beat Michigan with an interim coach, and he can't beat Missouri.

I don’t think he would survive in the SEC. He’s far too soft. That's why I don't want him at OSU.

Dude can recruit -- no doubt about that. And unlike say Tressel, he doesn't lose to teams they shouldn't lose to - in fact, those games are rarely close unlike Tressel. I think his future would be about what his past has been -- win nearly 100% of the games they are favored. Lose to few teams that have both the talent that OSU has and have a meaner streak. Lots of 11-2, 12-1. No titles.

Sarkissian has a premier job at Texas so I don’t see him leaving there.

Dabo would def leave but I’m not sure Bama wants him.

Landing will prolly be top choice, but will he leave?

Norvell would be great choice for Bama, and with everything that’s happened with FSU and the transfers, he may be interested.

Kalen DeBoer makes sense because Bama would be an upgrade for him big-time and he’s an up-and-coming HC.

Lane Kiffin also makes sense and is prolly on the short list.

Pete Carroll would be a great short-term option if they want to groom someone.

I don't doubt that. Every fan base has scum amongst them, but it had nothing to do with retirement.

Do you think it's the first fan base that has targeted him? He's won 7 NCs...Bama is hated by just about everyone.

You don't feel Carroll has been out of college football too long to be able to successfully transition back to that level?

Nah, he’d do great. The only thing that’s changed is NIL, and you have staff to handle that shit.

The portal is just more recruiting, which he’s great at.

I don't think he's someone you would hire to rebuild a program. He's someone to hire as a stop-gap to keep recruits from leaving and transferring. I think he could transition back to college no problem.

But I don't think they'll bring in Carroll. I think they're going all-in on Dan Lanning. If they don't get Lanning, it's Lane Kiffin.

Not the first, but possibly the most rabid. Let me tell you something, a lot of us were pissed as hell that we got left out of the playoff because of the collusion between Saban, ESPN and the CFP.

Just like a lot of flat earthers are pissed at NASA for lying that space is real...they exist in the same reality.

Very few expected or thought FSU was worthy of a spot prior to the actual announcement and the made up narrative that collusion took place.

FSU wasn't one of the 4 best teams...hell they weren't one of the 6 best teams in the country.

I'm sorry but FSU would've found a way to beat Michigan. The way that defense was playing, it could've stopped General Patton's tanks.

This is why no one takes you seriously, Navy.

Breaking: Dan Lanning announced he is staying at Oregon Football after posting a video to social media.

As I was saying

1/3 of their roster gave up 60+. Had they gone to the Rose Bowl like they should've, no one would've opted out.

that was the JV squad

• FSU’s four leading rushers (Trey Benson, Lawrance Toafili, Rodney Hill and Travis)
• All five players with at least 20 catches (Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson and Jaheim Bell plus Benson and Toafili)
• Interception leader Jarrian Jones
• Four of the nine players with at least 40 tackles (Jared Verse, DJ Lundy, Akeem Dent and Renardo Green)
• FSU retains only 196 of its 2,039 rushing yards and 927 of its 3,373 receiving yards

FSU's D was extremely underrated.
