Winfield was/is the perfect example of when you look at most prospects (especially Safeties, ILBs, NCBs), you should be looking first and foremost at:

* Cognitive loop/processing/instincts. Is he always in position, around the ball, assignment-sound, and 2 steps ahead of where a faster-but-less-mentally-capable football player is?

* Physicality, grit, motor.

* Body control/proprioception at top-end play speed (even if that play speed shows as slower than another prospect in underwear).

Is a sack considered a TFL?
No. A sack does not count as a tackle for loss in professional American football. According to the NFL rule book, a sack and a tackle for loss are two different statistics.

I'm right there with you. I worry about the "paid and fade" effect on literally every player in Tampa sports. But I will say I would be genuinely surprised if that happened to Winfield. And I don't mean like he sucks half a season. That's almost everyone. I mean he just flat out sucks the next 3 years and doesn't try anymore

Different. Earl Thomas was best in coverage. I still believe Winfield is best going towards the LOS.

Earl Thomas had 2 career sacks and 13 career TFL. In like 10 years.

Twon has 17 TFL in less than 4 complete seasons. And 14 sacks.

I’m not trying to be obtuse, really. But they’re so different in their skill sets and usage.

I'd say it has to be Myles Garrett at this point. He has almost single handedly saved the Browns season after they lost Chubb and Watson. He should get votes for MVP honestly.

Possibly. I'd say Garrett has had the biggest impact of any defensive player in football this year by far.
