With the way that roster is set up, most QBs would give you a great shot at a top 5 pick.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 2:25 pm I guess if you keep Fields you’ll have a pretty great shot at another top 5 pick. So, there’s that.

So it would seem Devin White will be starting this Sunday vs the Jaguars.

@Grahamburn was too afraid to say so even when I offered an olive branch. But it seems the Bucs might have violated the CBA...

I never said they didn’t. I said he had basically been benched even though Bowles wasn’t saying that publicly.Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:03 pm @Grahamburn was too afraid to say so even when I offered an olive branch. But it seems the Bucs might have violated the CBA...

Actually just read that article after you posted he’d be starting as I was looking for news.
Bowles has got himself caught up in a lie now trying to cover up the fact that he HAD been benched. Derp. He told me Friday he couldn’t play. Derp. No, it was Saturday. Derp. Oops. I was supposed to report that if it had actually happened wasn’t I? Derp.

Doesn't matter. He's starting, so there goes the 3-game win streak.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:08 pmI never said they didn’t. It's the same place as the news that you broke 3 weeks ago that he had been benched.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:17 pmCan someone post a link to where that news is coming from?

Well, according to that story, he was benched. The Bucs just played loose with the nagging injury gimmick - like apparently a lot of teams do - to withhold reporting him as out. The old "game time decision."
The only reason it's a stink here is because the public smoke (thanks DW social media!) indicates he was benched.

There was no story a month ago. @Grahamburn has been saying for weeks that he was benched without proof or basis.Kress wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:40 pm

If that was the case and if the Bucs had been listing him as injured on the injury report, they violated the CBA. But Graham was afraid to say so when I asked him.

It’s ok to say someone else is right and that you’re wrong. It’s ok. It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault. It’s ok. Your credibility isn’t eviscerated or anything just because you’re wrong once in a while.Bootz wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:29 pmIt's the same place as the news that you broke 3 weeks ago that he had been benched.Grahamburn wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 3:17 pm

Re: Week 16 Discussion
I don't believe in Fields but I love that plan. You can hedge with a QB like Penix or Nix in the 2nd. If not there's always FA too. Lots of options in the window of those rookie deals.Cheb wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 12:30 pm If I'm the Bears, I stick with Fields and build around him. Try to trade down out of the number 1 pick for another king's ransom, then take Malik Nabers at #5 overall. If no one wants to trade with me (but they will), I draft Marvin Harrison Jr at #1, still take Nabers at #5, and air it the fuck out. That receiving trio would be among the best in the league in Week One of 2024 and will only get better with time.
Re: Week 16 Discussion
3 games for Godwin to get 186 yards
3 games for White to get 166 yards
3 games for White to get 166 yards

You can build a 49ers type team with the loot you’ll get for Caleb.

Every QB looks how good the team makes him look.
Re: Week 16 Discussion
And if Caleb flops, oh boy those could be high picks ala Panthers.
People forget the 9ers have their fair of flops too from Solomon Thomas to Trey Lance. But John Lynch consistently hedges and overturns every stone.

I think so. Vincent Jackson missed a lot of Winston's rookie season. They did have 3 players with over 1k scrimmage yards.BucsNBills wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 12:20 pmIf they both hit 1k, will this be the first time we've ever had x2 1k receivers and a 1k rusher?
Re: Week 16 Discussion
God do I hate 17 game seasons. What an unbelievably foolish, historical-context-compromising move for the NFL to make.
Absolutely terrible.
These leagues have an intersection of historical record/context with performance that deeply, deeply matters to the cultural fabric that binds "then" (for all values of then) and now. The willingness to harm that is terrible and I'm not convinced it will serve the league longterm.
I mean, we already have the offense/passing game amplification of the last 20 years (2004ish with illegal contact and tuck rule a few years before) then 15 years (2008ish with further stressing of rules and "catch" related rules tech and protections of QBs out of the pocket) then 10 years (around 13ish with defenseless receiver rules stuff) and then the last 5 or so (2018ish) with all of the QB protections.
All of these things have individually and collectively distorted offense/QB stats and increase the already-overvalued QB position. Add another game on top of that and you have a mess of the historical record/context.
Terrible.

Re: Week 16 Discussion
This X 1000!
The extra game was not needed. And any record ( or anything) that is accomplish in week 17 should have an * next to it.
Thus if White and Godwin hit the 1k mark in week 17; then imho it does not mean anything. That is the reason why Mike hitting the 1k mark so early was so significant to me.
They messed up when they added an additional week to the schedule. 16 weeks was perfect!
