Interesting looking at those two years and seeing Jameis and Baker had the same number of regular season wins, and Jameis threw for 50 more yards (4090 vs 4040) and the same amount of TDs (28). Jameis did it with one less game… but with one less game Jameis also threw 8 more picks than Baker.
Oh and the Baker season also included a division title and a playoff win.
So, yeah, Baker had more success in one season than Jameis did in his entire career.

And when our wins included the 12-4 Chiefs, the 11-5 Falcons, and the 10-5 Seahawks?
PFF has 2016 Jameis and 2023 Baker neck and neck.
With all that in consideration, I wouldn't say either has outplayed the other. However it does give you a great idea of where we currently stand with our QB. We basically have 2016 Jameis on our roster.

If Jameis protected the ball like Baker did last year, then the 2016 Bucs have a better record and probably also win the division and a playoff game. Like they say, if my aunt had stones she’d be my uncle.
Jameis is a very talented QB… he is also an idiot. I’m not pretending it’s an incredible feat, but 8 less interceptions with an extra game, a division title, and a playoff win is without question a more successful season.

Jameis throws INTs, Baker takes Sacks. This is the main reason both QBs are stuck as average/below average QBsDeja Entendu wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 4:47 pmSdbucs wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 4:04 pm

Agreed ! I'm curious to see what the uniform would look like with that helmet.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2024 6:23 pmI like the Helmet on the top left. Nasty looking. If only the Bucs played that nasty all the time.

Looks like we'd have a different color scheme too.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
William Gholston, who has played in more games than any other defensive lineman in franchise history, signed a third straight one-year deal with the Buccaneers on Monday

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
He has no market. He's basically Ryan Griffin that plays. We let him know when we feel like getting around to signing him.
The only thing of note he's done recently is make quotes that Logan Hall will have 6 sacks his rookie year and will blow up on defense.

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
We also signed Lorenz Metz. A 6' 9" 330 lb OL who played mostly (and best) at RG, LG, and RT

Gholston has never been a superstar, but he shows up, does his job, and doesn't complain. Even got himself a pick last year on a tipped ball if memory serves. Glad to have him back.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
David Moore signed for a little over 1 mil, I think he wanted to go with Canales to Carolina.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
I mean, don't get me wrong. I am a Will Gholston enthusiast, and am happy for the career he's made for himself, and would be more than supportive of him entering a coaching role. But don't we want to develop and play our younger guys instead of giving Will snaps at this point? It's not like he's LVD, still playing at a Pro Bowl level. He's just collecting a paycheck at this point.

Maybe it's hoopla to announce his retirement if he doesnt make the cut.
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
This is pretty cool.
The list:
-Bucs: Will Gholston, Mike Evans, Lavonte David
-Cowboys: Zack Martin, DeMarcus Lawrence
-Eagles: Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham
-Falcons: Jake Matthews
-Browns: Joel Bitonio
-Chiefs: Travis Kelce
-Vikings: Harrison Smith
-Saints: Cameron Jordan
-Steelers: Cameron Heyward
So the Bucs have three of the NFL's 13 active players in the league 10+ years and still with the team that drafted them uninterrupted (as many as the entire AFC):

Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
How many of those 13 guys are just occupying a roster spot and barely contributing
Re: The OFFICIAL 2024 Bucs off-season thread
If we're being honest, yea. And we all know who it is. IIRC all of those guys are still full-time starters except Gholston and maybe Brandon Graham. I'd have to check.

Maybe stop dancing in the backfield. Hit the correct hole when it opens without hesitation. Oh and average more than 3.7 yards a carry. Maybe then people will fear you.

He must not watch his own tape. While the oline didnt do him many favors, he definitely didnt do himself any favors either.
Dude has done nothing but talk since hes gotten here. I fear hes been sniffing his own farts for too long.
