DK Metcalf is having a fantastic night.

Have not watched the game tonight, only been checking the boxscore and play by play.
They are making the NFL game into college football.

Re: Week 13 Discussion
Sure it is. Trask has been here going on his third season. The Bucs are 4-7... losing 6 out of the last 7 games. Yet you believe that Trask's "inexperience" is the reason he's not on the field?
Re: Week 13 Discussion
I think judging a QB who has not seen real game action just because a bad coaching staff hasn't decided to start them is not a good method. That is what you are doing. By your 'standard' guys like Kyle Orton, Mike Glennon, DeShone Kizer, Kyle Boller, EJ Manuel, and Mark Sanchez would all be amazing QBs with loads of talent. Guys like Phillip Rivers, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Michael Vick would all not have talent.
I am not saying Trask would be a success. I am saying that we have no idea what he would achieve until he gets game time with the starters against other starters. If you think otherwise, you are more than welcome to your opinion. I just disagree with you.

Re: Week 13 Discussion
Yes, Trask should be on the field. He isn't because Bowles promised Mayfield that Mayfield would be the starting QB if he signed with the Bucs. Bowles made a big mistake playing Mayfield over Trask.

Good for him though.

This seems narrow minded.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:17 amYes, Trask should be on the field. He isn't because Bowles promised Mayfield that Mayfield would be the starting QB if he signed with the Bucs. Bowles made a big mistake playing Mayfield over Trask.
I think the conversation and plan is every bit what they have said it's been. Finding a true winning combo of OC, system, and QB isn't easy. In fact its the number one reason people get fired.
Everyone and their mother knows this upcoming class is thick. If there's a guy sitting there that Licht, Bowles, and Canales love, we'll take him. But until then, you see if maybe there's something behind another door.
And while Trask was definitely a door they've seen develop and are excited about, two rolls are better than one. Enter Baker.
Listen, say what you will he fits the culture very well. People respond to him. He can pick up the system by mid-season. And if we can protect the ball and get rolling, maybe he pulls off another playoff miracle.
And if not... if we get eliminated its Trask time. Gets a few games to solidify the "start the vet week 1" bit and learn by fire. Then he'll be the one trying to get and keep a hot start for his job. Maybe he does it. Maybe he wows us and forces us to double FT him in back to back years. Or maybe he flounders early or gets hurt and it's rookie time.
And don't buy into savior dogma that the rookie is a truth. His storyline is far more likely to mimic the other two's than not. But it's the next door. So we take it.
Your new OC and regime get to test 3 doors in 2 years, during which you're paying off a huge debt anyway.
It's a pretty clear and concise plan.

I would not go that far.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:17 amYes, Trask should be on the field. He isn't because Bowles promised Mayfield that Mayfield would be the starting QB if he signed with the Bucs. Bowles made a big mistake playing Mayfield over Trask.
Re: Week 13 Discussion
Is this a typo? You included Bowles and Canales as part of the draft prep for next year. You actually think they’re gonna be here?Doctor wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 11:08 amIf there's a guy sitting there that Licht, Bowles, and Canales love, we'll take him.GreatTimes wrote: ↑Fri Dec 01, 2023 9:17 am

Hell, they may not be here next week at this time if they don’t win this Sunday.
Re: Week 13 Discussion
Are we going to root for Bryce Young then?
Re: Week 13 Discussion
Finish reading the post.
Yeah. Plan has been pretty clear from the start.
What, you think Licht just walked into the meeting, did a line of blow off the Glazers desk and yelled "Baker Super Bowl!"

Not gonna lie. The visual gave me a chuckle.

Re: Week 13 Discussion
It would be great if Herbert had some competence around him.. He'd be a perennial playoff QB if he could just play with a bad defense, but Staley can't even muster that.
Speaking of defensive geniuses, wonder if Bowles will give up another rookie QB record today?
Re: Week 13 Discussion
All that tells me is he can't elevate a team to win games in the way real elite QBs can. But surely HC #3 will do the trick for himBucsNBills wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 1:23 pmIt would be great if Herbert had some competence around him.. Re: Week 13 Discussion
He has, he's the only reason they're competitive and winning more than 1 game a year. Staley's defense is just that bad. But that's giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're making your incorrect statement in good faith and not due to Herbert being white.Bootz wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 1:26 pmAll that tells me is he can't elevate a team to win games in the way real elite QBs can. It’s too bad Herbert dropped that great pass.
Re: Week 13 Discussion
Beautiful pick by Van Ginkle. Miami with a defense is gonna be very hard to beat.

Re: Week 13 Discussion
Competitive?? They have the same record as the Bucs do. For his career he's 2 games under .500. That doesn't sound very "competitive".BucsNBills wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 1:38 pmHe has, he's the only reason they're competitive and winning more than 1 game a year. Announcers in Chargers game talking about how the Chargers defense consistently lets the team down at the end of games. Leading to losses.
